12-MONTH HEAD CUSTODIAN - LOGISTICS DEPARTMENT
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma, GED, or sufficient education and experience to perform the duties of the position
Some experience with commercial custodial or janitorial work preferred
Ability to carry out tasks requiring moderate physical exertion and some heavy lifting, working outside in various conditions
Background clearance through FBI and ABI processes
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Regular and punctual attendance required
Maintain school facilities and grounds
Perform minor maintenance procedures essential to the upkeep of the facility
Assist in the training of new custodial staff
Assign and supervise the work of the custodial staff and assist in the cleaning and maintenance of the facility
Attend routine meetings with school Principal, Director of Logistics and Logistics Assistant regarding facility needs for
custodial and minor maintenance support
Attend monthly Quality Assurance Evaluations with the Logistics Assistant or their designee
Sweep, mop, empty trash, clean restrooms, strip, wax and buff floors and any other task related to cleanliness
Conduct maintenance, make repairs as needed to include changing light fixtures and light bulbs
Coordinate with the Maintenance Department on those items requiring work that is more detailed
Order and maintain supplies
Assist with moving furniture and other items within the school facilities
Be available to respond as required to alarm activations
Lock and secure school buildings daily as assigned
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assume reasonable job-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor in order to meet the needs of the school
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to work an eight (8) hour day and overtime as requested
Ability to follow oral and written instruction
Skilled in the direction of custodial activities and minor maintenance services in a school environment
Ability to lead day to day tasks of the custodial staff assigned to a given school
Ability to plan work methods, work scheduling, and in reviewing custodial task completion
Ability to work independently with or without supervision
Skills in the use of tools and equipment pertinent to the assigned tasks
Knowledge of equipment, materials, tools, and methods to perform work tasks as assigned
Knowledge of safety rules in the work place
Ability to work with a significant diversity of individuals and perform effectively as a team member
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, depending on the job assignment
Walk and stand 85% of work shift
Stoop, bend, twist, turn, and reach on a regular basis
Environmental exposures to heat and cold on a regular basis
Adequate strength, dexterity, and agility to perform all tasks assigned
