The duties include but are not limited:
Exhibits positive human relations skills.
Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
Maintains and submits records and reports as required.
Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and regulations.
Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.
Create WIDA Screener Tickets for newly identified ELs.
Code ELs in SIS per screening results.
Collect and maintain up-to-date files on all active and monitored ELs.
Manage all Requests for Interpreter Assignments for ELs.
Manage Interpreter Schedules.
Provide coaching for EL and school staff upon request.
Assist with District Trainings.
Implement recurring on-site trainings for target schools.
Manage ACCESS Assessment inventory, distribution, troubleshooting, and collection.
Complete data validation for the ACCESS Assessment.
Compile ACCESS Data to determine Interim Progress measures according to the ALSDE.
Assist Parent Manager with student enrollment.
Assist administrators in maintaining federal compliance pertaining to ELs.
Secure complete Home Language Survey for all ELs at assigned schools.
Administer the WIDA Screener, to newly enrolled qualifying students.
Administer the state's English proficiency assessment to all EL1-2 students.
Within 30 days of school opening, provide parents of all assigned ELs:

EL Program Language Proficiency Accommodations
Determination of Student Eligibility for Program Placement
WIDA Screener/ACCESS Parent Report
Distribute Individualized English Language Plan to each teacher of each assigned EL.
Facilitate Requests for Interpreter for assigned schools.
Develop a schedule of EL services for each assigned student.
Document instructional time spent with each EL.
Monitor attendance and grades of all ELs and FELs quarterly.
Monitor FEL1-4s quarterly, through ELLevation monitoring tools.
Support staff at assigned schools through Professional Development and Coaching.
Performs other duties as requested by ESL Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have an appropriate, valid Alabama Teaching Certificate.
Must have Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Must have certification in ESL via Praxis or Degree (accredited ESOL Masters Program).
PREFERRED:
A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Duty Days 222
Salary Range: From/To As per State Salary Matrix, depending on degree and experience.
Additional Job Information
Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.
