POSITION: 1:1 Nurse
LOCATION: Currituck County High School
START DATE: August 10, 2026
PRIMARY DUTY:
- To provide 1:1 support for a student with medical needs.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Positive role model both professionally and personally
- Completion of training necessary for licensing as a registered nurse
- Experience in pediatrics and/or public health nursing preferred
- This employee must be certified by the National Association of School Nurses (NASN)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Current license as a registered nurse in the United States
- Completion of a practice requirement in school nursing
- Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment, child growth and development
- Working knowledge of public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies
- Working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services
- Some knowledge of the school organization and the community served
- Ability to identify abnormal growth and development and symptoms of disease
- Ability to coordinate and facilitate services between the school, local health agency, and other community resources
- Ability to develop and maintain health records on students and positive working relationships
