    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Valid K-12 Michigan teacher's certificate with a K-12 JX or JQ Music endorsement

    • Must be Highly Qualified to teach Music

    • Possess a superior level of content knowledge for the subject matter DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience with middle school level students

    • Strong instrumental background with experience rehearsing concert bands

    • Knowledge of woodwind, brass, and percussion pedagogy

    • Experience preparing students for performances, concerts, festivals, and adjudicated events

    • Experience working with beginning instrumental students and instrument selection process

    • Ability to plan, organize, and implement instrument exploration activities for fifth grade students acro ss multiple elementary buildings

    • Experience teaching middle school vocal music

    • Knowledge of vocal techniques and choral techniques

    • Knowledge and application of keyboard skills

    • Ability to collaborate effectively in a co-teaching and team-teaching environment

    • Excellent organizational; and communication skills

    • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and faculty

    • Knowledge with national standards for music education and ability to integrate standards into the instruction and curriculum

    • Interest and willingness to integrate standards into the instruction and curriculum

    • Interest and willingness to integrate diverse students into music programs

    • Knowledge of music, periods, genre, and styles

    • Willingness to contribute to a comprehensive music program through performances and extra -curricular activities

    • Commitment to maintaining the tradition of excellence within a high-achieving music program
