    Job Summary:

    This posting is for a Federal Work Study position. To be eligible for WorkStudy positions you must maintain enrollment in at least six (6) credits at LBCC, maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout each term and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better (some positions may require a higher GPA), and have financial aid in place.

    The Engagement Center Student Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for the programs and events that are promoted by the Office of Impact and Engagement. These activities may include but are not limited to academic, cultural, social, and community events that advance the mission and vision of the Office of Impact and Engagement and LBCC. The Impact and Engagement Program Manager provides overall onboarding, support, training, and supervision of student assistants.

    Essential Duties:

    • Serve as an office/center attendant by maintaining a welcoming, greeting visitors, addressing inquiries, answering phone calls, taking messages, and completing sign-in logs.
    • Handle the setup and teardown of programs and events in the Engagement Center or on campus as indicated by Impact and Engagement staff.
    • Performs a variety of office and tasks/duties that support the activities, events, and programs of the Office of Impact and Engagement.
    • Maintain the Office of Impact and Engagement bulletins in the Engagement Center and around campus.
    • Creates Google forms, Canva fliers, and surveys as requested.
    • Fulfills other work-study assistant duties as assigned.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

    • The Engagement Center is a versatile space that hosts academic, cultural, and community presentations and events.
    • Student Assistants support the overall programming aspect including but not limited to moving light furniture around, providing support to utilize computer and projector stations, and assisting presenters and guests as necessary.

    Education and Experience

    • Must maintain enrollment in at least 6 credits at LBCC, achieve satisfactory academic progress throughout each term, obtain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better, and have financial aid in place to be eligible to work in a Work Study student employee capacity at Linn-Benton Community College.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Computer, Word, Excel, Google Drive. Google Slides or PowerPoint skills helpful.
    • Social media and internet savvy. Basic office experience. Solid interpersonal communication skills.
    • Must be able to communicate with faculty, staff and students and work well independently and with others.
    • Ability to interact sensitively and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) and/or cultural competency/fluency with diverse populations preferred.
