What you'll do...

Role summary: The Staff Risk Expert serves as a senior individual contributor supporting Walmart’s technology, AI, and information security policy and governance programs. The role develops and reviews clear, practical, and enforceable policies and standards; identifies and assesses policy-related risks; and develops and maintains risk registers and remediation activities. This position also improves governance processes through AI, automation, and workflow tools while partnering with Legal, Regulatory, Audit, security, technology, and business teams. The role strengthens accountability, policy adoption, audit readiness, and risk-based decision-making across Global Tech. About the team: The Global Tech Policy & Security Advisors team develops and governs Walmart’s technology, AI, and information security policies and standards. We partner with Legal, Regulatory, Audit, security, technology, and business teams to translate complex expectations into clear, practical, and enforceable requirements. The team identifies and monitors policy and governance risks, maintains risk registers, supports remediation, and strengthens accountability across the policy lifecycle. We also use AI, automation, and workflow tools to improve policy quality, consistency, efficiency, and adoption—helping teams manage risk, remain audit-ready, and innovate securely across Walmart. What you'll do:
  • Develop and review technology, AI, and information security policies and standards.
  • Identify, assess, document, and monitor policy and governance risks.
  • Develop and maintain risk registers, track remediation, and escalate issues.
  • Strengthen policy ownership, lifecycle governance, exception workflows, and accountability.
  • Translate legal, regulatory, audit, security, and business expectations into practical requirements.
  • Use AI, automation, and workflow tools to improve quality, consistency, efficiency, and adoption.
  • Partner across Legal, Regulatory, Audit, security, technology, and business teams.
  • Support stakeholder communication, policy enablement, and continuous improvement of governance services and tools.
What you'll bring:
  • Knowledge of technology controls, compliance standards, emerging risks, and policy development.
  • Experience identifying policy risks, performing assessments, maintaining risk registers, tracking remediation, and improving governance processes.
  • Ability to translate complex requirements into clear, practical, and enforceable guidance.
  • Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with AI, automation, workflow, or governance tools.
  • Ability to work independently, influence decisions, and collaborate across legal, audit, business, security, and technology teams.
