Position Announcement
Utah Valley University is seeking a student to assist Dining Services.

Summary of Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Food preparation, cooking, stocking products, working with the chefs and support all operations to ensure food items are made correctly and on time, washing dishes, cleaning floors, sanitation, cleaning/maintenance of all equipment and accessories, and other duties as assigned. Teamwork skills, courteous customer service, and working unsupervised at times.
  • The food preparation will include, cutting fruit and vegetables, making sandwiches, salads, and other cold food items.
  • Day and evening positions available beginning at 7:00 am. Must have 4-5 hour time gap every day to work Monday through Friday, and an occasional Saturday.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
  • Must be a current UVU student.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Knowledge of operating kitchen equipment and food service methods.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow directions from leaders and work with minimal instruction.
  • Ability to exercise mature judgement.
  • Ability to work with others cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand on feet for extended period of time.
  • Ability to be punctual and on time for scheduled shifts.

About Company

Utah Valley University was established in 1941 as Central Utah Vocational School (CUVS) with the primary function of providing war production training. CUVS was part of the Provo School District located in south Provo. The institution received a state appropriation in March 1945 of $50,000 to operate for the 1945-1947 biennium. In 1947, the school received funding as a permanent state institution. A new site for the school was acquired on University Avenue in Provo in 1948; in the 1952, the state appropriated funding for the first construction on that site. As enrollments grew, the state acquired over 185 acres in southwest Orem and the first building was completed in 1977. Today, the University’s facilities consist of a combined total of 412 acres with 50 buildings with campuses in Orem, Provo, and Heber City and property in Vineyard and at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi.
