    The Department of Campus Recreation aims to provide fun, inclusive, and engaging recreational programming and facilities for the university's diverse community in the areas of intramural and sport clubs, fitness and wellness instruction and informal recreational opportunities.

    Position Specific Summary

    Intramural referees officiate competition for the Campus Recreation Intramural Sports program. Sports may include basketball, futsal, flag football, dodgeball, kickball, volleyball, pickleball, and esports in indoor and outdoor spaces. Hours are generally from 6pm - 10pm on weeknights and evenings on Saturdays or Sundays.

    General responsibilities include:
    • Ensure a safe, friendly, and fun environment for competition among participants.
    • Set-up and breakdown of game equipment and materials.
    • Work with a team of officials under the direction of supervisory staff.
    • Know, follow, and enforce Campus Recreation policies and procedures.
    • Provide exemplary customer service for IM participants- checking in teams, answering questions, and resolving participant conflicts.


    Attendance at training on 8/23 is mandatory

    Standard Position Description

    The student will support athletic and recreation activities. Tasks may include: providing logistical support for athletic events, performing as an intramural sports referee, act as a camp counselor, perform in athletic events, and other administrative duties. Please see the department's position summary for specific duties. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.

    Required Qualifications

    This is an entry level position, little to no experience required, all training will be provided.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Prior playing or officiating experience or referee certifications are desired but not required.
