    Description

    Your opportunity

The Marketing Experience Design Team (MXD) sets the standards, patterns, and guidance that help marketing teams deliver consistent, high-quality digital experiences at scale across web, email, mobile app, and social channels.

As a Senior UX Designer, you will help shape how Schwab shows up across digital marketing touchpoints. This role blends UX strategy, experience design, design systems, prototyping, front-end technical fluency, and emerging AI-enabled design processes. You will partner with marketing, content, product, technology, and vendor teams to translate complex experience requirements into clear standards, reusable guidance, and scalable solutions.

We are looking for a senior designer who can lead independently, build trusted partnerships, and make client-centered decisions while understanding the technical realities behind modern digital experiences.

    What You'll Do

    • Own and evolve the UX strategy and standards for digital marketing experiences across web, email, mobile app, and social.

    • Translate marketing goals, client needs, content strategy, AI opportunities, accessibility requirements, and front-end technology considerations into clear experience guidance for marketing teams.

    • Create reusable patterns, templates, modules, frameworks, and best practices that help teams deliver faster and more consistently across digital channels.

    • Define and evolve design system guidance with a strong understanding of components, interaction patterns, responsive behavior, accessibility, and channel standards.

    • Use HTML and CSS knowledge to inform practical design decisions, validate implementation feasibility, and communicate specifications clearly with engineering partners.

    • Collaborate with technology teams on experiences involving Java-based applications, services, or platforms, translating design intent into guidance that supports scalable implementation.

    • Apply AI tools and workflows to support discovery, synthesis, ideation, content exploration, prototyping, workflow acceleration, and standards adoption.

    • Partner with marketing, content, product, engineering, analytics, legal/compliance, vendor, and channel teams to align decisions and remove barriers.

    • Influence adoption of standards through practical guidance, stakeholder alignment, communication, enablement, and documentation.

About the Marketing Experience Design Team (MXD)

    • Defines and unifies digital experience standards across channels to ensure consistency in look, feel, UX, accessibility, and design practices.

    • Sets channel requirements and guidance spanning web, email, mobile app, and social.

    • Builds scalable assets, including design systems, templates, modules, reusable components, tooling, and frameworks used by marketing teams at scale.

    • Supports a large digital footprint, including approximately 28 websites and high-volume email programs across the organization.

    What you have

8+ years of relevant experience in UX design, digital marketing experience, interaction design, product design, content strategy, front-end experience design, or equivalent roles.

    • Experience leading UX or experience standards work across digital marketing channels, including web, email, and mobile.

    • Strong understanding of front-end fundamentals, including HTML and CSS, with the ability to evaluate design feasibility, responsive behavior, accessibility considerations, and implementation tradeoffs.

    • Working knowledge of Java or Java-based web application environments, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and understand how design decisions translate into technical delivery.

    • Strong understanding of content strategy and structure, information architecture, taxonomy, interaction patterns, and accessibility standards.

    • Experience using and contributing to design systems, with proficiency in Figma and applied use of AI tools or AI-enabled workflows as part of the design process.

    • Ability to communicate clearly with both design and technical stakeholders, influence without direct authority, build alignment, and form strong cross-functional partnerships.

    • Online portfolio demonstrating design thinking, problem-solving, client-centered digital experience outcomes, and examples of work that show how design decisions connect to implementation.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Background creating marketing standards, templates, reusable components, or channel guidance that enables teams to deliver at scale.

    • Experience creating high-fidelity prototypes, annotated design specifications, or implementation-ready documentation for responsive web and email experiences.

    • Familiarity with modern content management systems and development platforms like Sanity and Vercel.

    • Comfort partnering with engineering teams on front-end frameworks, component libraries, APIs, Java-based platforms, or enterprise technology constraints.

    • Experience supporting client-facing experiences in regulated industries, financial services, complex enterprises, or large matrixed organizations.

    • Ability to mentor designers and help teams adopt new standards, tools, technical collaboration practices, and ways of working.
