Position Description
The Senior Director of the Perry Health Sciences Simulation Hospital provides visionary leadership, strategic direction, and executive oversight for Wake Technical Community Colleges state-of-the-art simulation hospital. Reporting to the Provost, this position is responsible for strategic planning, academic integration, operational management, financial stewardship, accreditation, workforce developmentand advancement of simulation-based education across Health Sciences and Workforce Continuing Education.
The Senior Director oversees all academic, operational, financial, technological, and administrative functions of the Simulation Hospital while fostering collaborative partnerships with faculty, healthcare organizations, industry leaders, and community stakeholders. Through innovation, interprofessional education, emerging technologies, and continuous quality improvement, the Senior Director develops and implements initiatives that enhance student success, strengthen workforce readiness, and position Wake Tech as a national leader in healthcare simulation, experiential learning, and workforce innovation.

Strategic Leadership
Advance Wake Techs reputation as a regional and national leader in healthcare simulation and workforce development.
Develop strategic goals, performance metrics, and operational priorities for the Simulation Hospital.
Lead continuous innovation and organizational growth while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
Provide executive leadership for simulation initiatives across all Health Sciences programs.
Academic Leadership
Promote evidence-based simulation practices aligned with nationally recognized standards.
Support curriculum innovation through immersive learning, competency-based education, and emerging educational technologies.
Promote student success by ensuring simulation activities support course outcomes, program outcomes, and workforce competencies.
Support faculty development in simulation pedagogy, scenario design, facilitation, assessment, and debriefing.
Operational, Financial, and Administrative Leadership
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and workflows that promote operational consistency, quality service, safety, and continuous improvement.
Develop, administer, and monitor annual operating and capital budgets.
Ensure simulation of resources and financial investments to effectively support instructional programs, workforce training, and external partnerships.
Develop sustainable financial models and identify opportunities for grants, philanthropy, sponsorships, and other external funding.
Analyze operational, utilization, and financial data and provide reports and recommendations to senior leadership to support planning and decision-making.
Workforce Development and External Partnerships
Promote community engagement through educational outreach, demonstrations, tours, conferences, and collaborative initiatives.
Accreditation, Compliance, and Quality Improvement
Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives utilizing performance data and outcome measures.
Oversee policy development, documentation, assessment, and reporting and adherence to applicable institutional, programmatic, and regulatory standards, including OSHA, HIPAA, and other applicable requirements.
Monitor operational performance and simulation utilization through data analysis and outcome measures, implementing continuous quality improvement strategies that enhance operational effectiveness, learner success, and stakeholder satisfaction.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of healthcare simulation operations
Skilled in curriculum integration and instructional innovation
Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning skills including organizational and financial management
Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory compliance
Demonstrated ability to analyze data to promote continuous quality improvement
Demonstrated ability to build collaborative partnerships across academic, clinical, and community settings.
Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
Commitment to student success, and organizational excellence
Minimum Requirements
Masters degree in Nursing, Allied Health, Healthcare Administration, Education, Business Administration, or related discipline.
Three (3) years of leadership experience in healthcare simulation, healthcare education, academic administration, or healthcare operations.
Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
Experience managing complex budgets and strategic initiatives.
Experience with simulation technologies and healthcare education.
Preferences
Doctoral degree (EdD, PhD, DNP, DHA, or equivalent).
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS).
Experience with INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice and Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) Accreditation Standards.
Experience leading simulation centers within higher education.
Experience securing grants and external funding.
Experience developing workforce education programs and industry partnerships.
