    Energetics Manufacturing Engineer IV (L4) - Secret Clearance Eligible

    Location: On-site

    Schedule: 4x10 Workweek

    Travel: Up to 25% domestic travel (primarily East Coast)

    Employment Type: Contract with potential for direct hire conversion

    We are seeking an experienced Energetics Manufacturing Engineer IV (L4) to support high-impact manufacturing operations involving energetic materials. This position offers the opportunity to lead process improvements, introduce advanced manufacturing technologies, support automation initiatives, and ensure compliance with rigorous safety and regulatory standards within a defense-focused environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for energetic materials while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
    • Lead process improvement initiatives to increase yield, reduce production costs, and enhance operational performance.
    • Identify, evaluate, and implement new manufacturing technologies and automation solutions.
    • Manage New Process Introduction (NPI) activities, including process qualification, documentation, and production readiness reviews.
    • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot specialized energetic materials processing equipment, including vertical mixers, fluid energy mills, and related systems.
    • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, process flow diagrams, and control plans.
    • Ensure compliance with DoD 4145 requirements and all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
    • Partner with cross-functional teams including Operations, Quality, Safety, and Program Management to support production objectives.
    • Conduct hazard analyses and risk assessments associated with energetic materials processing.
    • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineers and production personnel.
    • Support facility, equipment, and process qualification efforts, including validation and acceptance testing activities.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
    • Minimum of 5 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience working directly with energetic materials.
    • Proven experience leading manufacturing process improvement projects and implementing solutions in production environments.
    • Experience integrating new technologies, automation systems, and new manufacturing processes.
    • Working knowledge of DoD 4145 regulations governing the storage, handling, and manufacturing of ammunition and explosives.
    • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 10+ years of experience in energetic materials manufacturing engineering.
    • Hands-on experience with vertical mixing systems, fluid energy mills, and other energetic materials processing equipment.
    • Bachelors or advanced degree in Chemical Engineering strongly preferred.
    • Familiarity with Explosive Safety Site Plans (ESSPs), Quantity-Distance (Q-D) requirements, and related DoD/DoE safety frameworks.
    • Experience supporting defense contractor or government manufacturing operations.
    • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
    • Active DoD Security Clearance or ability to obtain one.
