Instructional Technology Assistant

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is seeking a student assistant to support the development, maintenance, and communication of teaching and learning resources. This position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with educational technology, accessibility, digital communication, website content management, artificial intelligence (AI), and instructional design while contributing to projects that support faculty and student success.

No prior experience with instructional technology or accessibility is required. Training and support will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and update how-to guides for Blackboard, YuJa, Microsoft 365, and other instructional technologies.
  • Assist in maintaining the Blackboard Orientation Course, CTL Knowledge Base, and other faculty support resources.
  • Review instructional materials and support resources from a student perspective and provide feedback on clarity, usability, and accessibility.
  • Assist with accessibility reviews of instructional resources and CTL materials.
  • Prepare graphics, presentations, and promotional materials for faculty development activities.
  • Assist with website content updates and resource organization.
  • Support faculty development events, workshops, and CTL outreach activities.
  • Assist with testing and quality assurance of instructional resources, interactive learning activities, and emerging educational technologies.
  • Assist with research and documentation related to teaching, learning, accessibility, AI, and instructional technology initiatives.
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations that help improve the student and faculty experience.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, and discretion when working with instructional materials and institutional resources.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and maintain a consistent work schedule.
  • Comfortable using technology and learning new tools as needed.
  • Clear written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and follow instructions.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications; familiarity with Blackboard, Canva, Adobe products, website content management systems, or other technology tools is a plus.
  • Interest in education, teaching and learning, technology, digital communication, accessibility, instructional design, AI, or related fields preferred.
  • Curiosity, willingness to learn, and a desire to contribute to innovative projects are highly valued.

Compensation

$15.00 per hour
