Front End Floor Manager Status: $21.00 Hour, Part Time, nights and weekends required. Overview: Assist Front End in maintaining high standards of friendly, courteous, and prompt customer/member service. Manage and assist cashiers, registers and customer flow; ensure accuracy of all cash accounts and security of all media received; manage and assist Customer Service desk; ensure cleanliness, safety and security of the Front End.
Reports To: Front End Manager Job Responsibilities: Customer/Member Service:
- To model the highest level of customer service toward all customers
- To establish customer service as a top priority
- Answer customer questions and/or complaints completely and courteously, or direct the questioner to the appropriate person who will provide the answer
- Answer telephone calls with a positive and polite greeting and efficiently answer and/or direct customers to appropriate department/person
- Make clear and concise announcements over the intercom for customers, staff, events, and practitioners
- Promote membership to non-members
- Issue refunds, rainchecks, and gift cards
- Listen and answer questions regarding member discounts and record information and/or guide member to Member Services Coordinator
- Verify member discounts by checking banked hours and share payments
- Assist in helping customers sign up for practitioner services and direct questions to the Education Coordinator
- Accept member share payments according to Front End procedures
- Accepting and sorting recyclables, egg cartons, milk bottles, deposit bottles, and plastic bags. Take items to the appropriate location in the warehouse.
- Issue milk bottle/bottle deposits (if in cash)
Operations: - Ensure all spills are cleaned promptly. Assist in maintaining store in a clean and orderly condition
- Report any suspected shoplifting or disorderly conduct to the Manager on Duty immediately
- Ensure incident and accident reports are filled out properly, promptly pass report to Human Resources, and notify the Store Manager
- Work with Front End Manager and Front End Assistant Manager to follow procedures to ensure accuracy and security of all cash, daily deposits and paperwork processed by the Front End
- Distribution of paychecks, cashing employee paychecks, maintaining Live Check Pickup Log
- Ensure that container guidelines, per the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets are being followed
- Ensure HWFC policies are being followed including required dress code (ie. shirts and shoes), non-service animal, missing child “Code Adam”, medical and nonmedical emergencies
Cashiering: - Supervise and support cashiers and customer service desk personnel. Communicate to Front End Manager and Front End Assistant Manager any recurring problems or concerns
- Support the cashiers by bagging groceries while providing coaching on observed behavior
- Relay any new pertinent information to cashiers
- Participate in cashier training as needed and continue to give feedback to cashiers
- Provide cashiers with tills at shift start, assign registers to ensure best customer flow
- Refill register supplies, clear unwanted products from registers, and ensure register stations are clean and organized
- Obtain and verify the grocery bag order from receiving. Distribute/maintain register stock of grocery bags
- Provide assistance with change for cashiers
- Create and manage break schedule to ensure coverage of Front End at peak times
- Open and operate additional registers when the Front End is busy to ensure the customer the shortest checkout time possible
- Assign tasks to cashiers and courtesy clerks during downtime
- Call for assistance to the Front End when needed
- Ensure that cashiers count out register and then verify count. Resolve shortages/overages in cashier reconciliation. Leave notes for deposit manager regarding discrepancies
- Sign out Front End member workers, plant department members, and practitioner/committee member workers. Verify completed shift work before signing out other department member workers.
People: - Work with the Front End Manager and Assistant Front End Manager to develop performance standards and assure on the job training of all Front End staff and member workers
- Provide feedback to the Front End Manager and Assistant Front End Manager on cashier performance
- Assist with scheduling as needed
General - Lead by example in time and attendance
- Flexibility in scheduling, including willingness to exchange shifts with co-workers, willingness to cover additional shifts if needed, and willingness to alter work schedule to meet changing needs of the department
- Attend Front End department meetings
- Attend Front End Management team meetings
- Attend All Staff meeting when possible.
- Perform all other duties assigned by Front End Manager and Assistant Front End Manager.
