We lead the Operations technical teams during the development of the next generation products. As the technical lead for a product line, you will partner closely with multi disciplinary teams during all phases of development to enable product success. In this position, you will have responsibility for products prior to launch, with the goal of enabling strong quality during the development cycle. This position partners with engineering, product development, reliability engineering operations, AppleCare, and component teams. Strong Quality engineering skills in technical, statistical knowledge, Failure analysis, Exec presentations, and program management experience are essential. To be a successful team member within Product Operations you will partner with the Operations technical team (DFx, DFm, Test, SQE, PQE and others) during product development and high volume production. As a technical advisor for the product line, you will partner closely with Engineering throughout the lifecycle of development to enable operational success through to mass production.ResponsibilitiesSupport technical readiness for during program development cycleDrive project quality issues with material, process, fixtures, equipment etc. during the new-product phase to enable delivery of a mature product and manufacturing process into mass productionUtilize DOE, FMEA, and other industry-standard tools to proactively identify and address risks and optimize process parametersEstablish quality programs and process control plans for early detection of issues and to ensure the highest level of quality and reliability is consistently deliveredManage the Product Quality Plan (PQP), innovating as needed to ensure robust quality for new productsDevelop and implement new technologies to improve production quality, capacity, and efficiencySuccinctly communicate technical updates to the executive teamOwn product quality strategy and executionManage the quality processes at the OEMs, including Incoming Quality Control (IQC), Outgoing Quality Control (OQC), Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT)Ensure contract manufacturers are prepared for pre-production buildsEvaluate prospective suppliers regarding quality managementIncorporate lessons learned from sustaining / shipping products into design and process improvements for next-generation productsWork with commodity managers and supplier quality engineers to ensure component quality & reliability; make recommendations to improve design/testInternational travel up to 25%Minimum QualificationsBS in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or equivalent5+ years of experience is Quality Engineering in a Manufacturing settingPreferred QualificationsMS in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or equivalentLaser-focused on the smallest details and able to use data forensics to solve complex manufacturing assembly quality issuesProven experience in one or more of the following subject areas: New Product Introduction / Design Engineering / Manufacturing Operations consumer electronicsGood understanding of electronic assembly processesSolid understanding of statistical analysis and production control processesKnowledgeable in data analysis and interpretation ; Tableau scripting and JMP scripting knowledge is preferredExperience partnering with international contract manufacturers in mass production; experience traveling to manufacturing sitesMust be a self starter with innovation, integrity, and attention to detailOutstanding communications skillsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $128,400 and $236,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
