Job Summary:

This posting is for a pooled position. Application submissions for "[POOL]" positions are accepted on an ongoing basis to ensure a continuous and ready pool of qualified candidates for immediate review when the need arises. If/when a position becomes available, the College will review applications from this pool, and interview candidates whose qualifications best match the specific opening.

Applicants must reapply to the pool annually to maintain their active status in the pool.

The Family Connections child care provider training instructor provides education on topics that assist people employed in the field of childhood care and education to improve outcomes for children, meet state requirements for child care provider licensing and/or enhance professional development.

Essential Duties:

  • Has a working knowledge of the philosophy, goals and values of the Family Connections child care provider training program.
  • Participates in the professional development activities provided by the Family Connections Department.
  • Prepares for each class session with a focus on appropriate learner outcomes and developmentally appropriate practices in the field of childhood care and education.
  • Completes or facilitates the completion of appropriate paperwork and records such as registration forms, class agendas and handouts, course outlines, and evaluations.
  • Maintains responsibility for confidentiality of participants.
  • Provides high quality instruction on topics that are identified in one or more of the eight Core Knowledge categories defined by Oregon's Center for Career Development.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Human Development, Family Studies, Counseling, Education or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching adults is preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Position requires visual acuity, arm, hand and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. Requires speaking and hearing ability sufficient to carry on routine conversations. Work is performed in a classroom or office setting with minimal exposure to health and safety hazards.

Salary and Compensation Information:

Courses are paid on a per-credit basis. New Part-time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the payscale, with steps being "rolled" once per term, if eligible.

  • Table 1 illustrates the cost per credit for each step on the pay scale. Instructors new to the College typically start at the rate listed in column 1.
  • Table 3 illustrates the compensation per hour for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, or other related work.

  • As a condition of employment, all new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit.
