Position DescriptionLegrand has an exciting opportunity for a Planning Manager to join the Kenall Team in Kenosha, WI. The Planning Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing production plans to meet customer demand while optimizing resource utilization and minimizing costs. The role includes creating strategies for continuous inventory improvement and optimizing planning sequencing to enhance production efficiency for both direct and indirect labor.Work Closely WithManufacturing operations departments to support schedule adherence and Lean strategy implementationCustomer service to improve customer commitmentsPurchasing to ensure component deliveries while considering supplier capabilitiesWhat Will You Do?Oversee order intake, scheduling, and flow for two lighting brandsReview schedules across assembly, fabrication, paint operations, analyze capacity, and direct planners to level load production departmentsEvaluate production schedules to effectively utilize equipment and personnel and develop metrics for schedule adherenceDevelop and direct material handlers; optimize material layout and movement within the plant and ensure high reliability of ERP system and component availability accuracyAdjust schedules to maintain a steady production flow; collaborate with managers, supervisors, buyers, and sales to resolve scheduling problems and communicate changesMaintain and recommend finished goods, raw material, and component inventory levels to meet customer requirements; monitor inventory status reports for errors and make necessary adjustmentsSupervise miscellaneous inventory transactions, correct errors, and train as needed; recommend disposition of excess materialsMonitor and resolve canceled or delayed manufacturing jobs; manage scheduling for rework, new orders, and other operationsCollaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing for alternate supply sources to sustain production flowPrepare reports such as delayed shipments, monthly delivery performance, load reports, RGA analysis, and other requested metricsRecommend ERP enhancements, document procedures, eliminate non-value-added tasks, and work with IT to prioritize impactful reporting and system changesAssist lead time reduction across all Kenall productsRespond to sales on customer order expedites; evaluate implementations and provide timely alternativesResolve problems related to defective material, returns, long lead-time components, and bill of material reductionsMaintain planned finished goods, re-order points, lot sizes, and long lead-time component dataParticipate in company programs and committees to improve quality, reduce costs, and satisfy customer requirementsRecommend improvements for workflow, procedures, and computer enhancements; reduce or eliminate non-value-added tasksOther duties as assignedGeneral ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement clear production plans across all departmentsMonitor and analyze production data to fine‑tune capacity constraintsTrack and manage inventory levels and reduce inventory costs through material utilizationEngage in ongoing training and development programsSet goals and objectives with the manager and seek ways to improve quality and productivityConduct appraisals and develop plans for departmental employeesActively participate on the operations leadership team (Materials Management, Purchasing/Sourcing, Plant/Production Management, Manufacturing Engineering)Maintain good housekeeping conditions in the work areaReport abnormalities in equipment, machines, programs, and processesPerform backup functions for other team members and the manager as instructed; engage in cross-training to support back‑up effortsPerform other duties as assignedEducationBS/BA degree in a related disciplineQualificationsMBA or M.S. in mathematics highly preferredAPICS certificationLean / Six Sigma certification preferredExperience10+ years of materials management experience within a sizable organization10+ years of planning experience; excellent planning skillsSkills / Knowledge / AbilitiesStrong written and verbal English communication skills for training and general directionDemonstrated strong customer service skillsProfessional appearance and attitude; ability to work professionally with customers, vendors, and employees at all levelsComputer literacy including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerBIExperience with ERP systems (Epicor preferred)High level of self‑initiative, dependability, and trustworthinessFlexible to perform overtime duties or adjust schedule when requiredResourceful, highly organized, and detail orientedAbility to manage, prioritize, and balance multiple tasksTeam‑oriented working stylePositive, can‑do attitudeEquipment UsedPersonal computerEpicor ERP systemPrinter / photocopierTelephoneEqual Opportunity Employer#J-18808-Ljbffr
