Location: Onsite at Corning, NY
Duration: 12 Months with potential to extend
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, flexible schedule as needed.
Travel Requirements: Up to 10-30% domestic and international travel may be required, with trips ranging from one day to several weeks.

Job Description:
Summary:
Client is seeking a Measurement Systems Software Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and deployment of software for industrial measurement and inspection systems used in manufacturing environments across client's businesses. The role emphasizes C#/.NET software development, hardware integration, and deployment of robust solutions for production use. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, collaborative, and self-driven engineer who is comfortable working closely with imaging hardware and machine vision technologies to deliver reliable, production-ready measurement systems.
Scope of Position:
  • Responsible for the design, development, integration, and support of software for advanced measurement and inspection systems used in manufacturing.
  • This role supports distributed software applications that coordinate imaging, motion, I/O, sequencing, and data handling to perform product inspection, quality control, and related manufacturing functions.
  • The engineer will develop new software capabilities, support software release and deployment activities, and work closely with cross-functional teams to implement and sustain robust production solutions across client's businesses.
  • This role will also help evaluate and establish effective AI-assisted software development practices, including the use of agentic coding tools, to improve development workflows and team productivity.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software for industrial measurement and machine vision systems, primarily using C#/.NET.
  • Support software communication, coordination, configuration, and data handling across distributed measurement system applications.
  • Support the transfer of technology from development into manufacturing through software build, release, deployment, and system integration activities.
  • Help evaluate, adopt, and apply AI-assisted and agentic coding tools to improve software development workflows, code quality, testing, and engineering efficiency.
  • Contribute to the definition of best practices for incorporating AI development tools into day-to-day software engineering activities in a controlled and effective manner.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including software specifications and support documentation.
  • Train engineering, maintenance, and operations personnel on the use, support, and maintenance of deployed systems.
  • Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting of software and integrated measurement systems.
  • Develop and maintain C#/.NET production software applications.
  • Support development of Client machine vision deployment platform.
  • Integrate software with industrial hardware, sensors, cameras, and motion systems.
  • Perform testing, validation, debugging, and troubleshooting.
  • Support deployment of solutions in manufacturing plants.
Primary Responsibilities:

Required Experience/Skills:
  • Experience developing software applications in C#/.NET for production use, system integration, or industrial applications.
  • Experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting software for distributed, multi-process, or integrated systems.
  • Familiarity with software communication and messaging methods such as publish/subscribe architectures, message queues, or similar approaches.
  • Experience with source control, software versioning, and build/release workflows using tools such as Git, GitLab, automated build systems, and package management tools.
  • Experience supporting software deployment, troubleshooting, and long-term support in development or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical work and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Interest in applying AI-assisted and agentic coding tools to improve software development workflows, code quality, testing, and engineering productivity.
  • Strong C# development experience.
  • .NET application development experience.
  • Experience with production software development.
  • Industrial system integration experience.
  • Experience interfacing with sensors, motors, cameras, or industrial devices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot software on physical equipment.

Desired Experience/Skills:
  • Experience with WPF user interface development frameworks in .NET.
  • Experience with motion control systems, cameras, image acquisition hardware, and integrated imaging platforms.
  • Hands-on experience working with imaging hardware, cameras, measurement equipment, or related instrumentation.
  • Experience applying machine learning or computer vision methods to inspection, classification, or measurement problems.
  • Familiarity with databases, containerization, or high-performance computing environments.
  • Experience evaluating, adopting, or helping define best practices for AI-enabled software development workflows.
  • Knowledge of machine vision and image processing methods such as feature extraction, edge detection, morphology, classification, inspection, and metrology.
  • Experience with machine vision or image processing libraries such as Halcon, OpenCV, LabVIEW, or similar tools.
  • Machine vision experience, image processing knowledge, openCV exposure, robotics integration experience, PLC communication experience, SCADA system exposure, motion control system experience, manufacturing deployment experience.

Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Prefer BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
  • 3 years minimum, but 5+ years preferred with the skills and experiences listed in the Required Skills Section.
  • Hiring manager values technical skills and aptitude over education credentials.
  • Preferred experience level is 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Relevant internships, academic projects, and research experience may be considered if directly related to industrial systems or software development.
  • Candidates without degrees should demonstrate stronger hands-on industry experience.
Travel Update:
  • Domestic travel: approximately 10-30% preferred.
  • Travel primarily supports deployments and troubleshooting at manufacturing sites.
Selection Process:
  • Top candidates will do a 30 minute initial screening with manager
  • Selected candidates will do a 90 minute panel interview during which they will present on their skills and experiences related to the role.
  • Manager will consider non-local candidates who are willing to relocate at their own expense.
