Mechanical Design Engineer- TX-0720
We have an immediate opening for a Mech Design Engineer with our client in WA who is a leading supplier of space products and has a growing presence in the US Aircraft industry specializing in interiors, galleys design, Mechanical Systems, and Freighter conversions in CATIA.
Keltia is a technical support services company providing Engineering Design, CAD Training along with Specialized Technical Recruiting services around the US, Canada and Europe.
We have been in business in Seattle in the US for 20 years and in Europe for around 8 years.
SUMMARY:
The right candidate will have, demonstrable on the resume, at least five years' worth of experience with the production process, either doing design reviews and/or process reviews. You'll have experience with metallic and composite structure manufacture, and you will hopefully have some experience with requirements management, proposal development, and /or schedule integration.
Main Tasks:
Coordinate all technical disciplines related to the development of complex products.
Manage, negotiate and track customer requirements and break them down to sub-system level requirements.
Manage requirement verification control.
Designs and checks mechanical aircraft interior furnishing, structures and/or systems.
Ensures designs meet customer criteria, quality standards and FAA requirements.
Issue Technical Specifications for sub-systems and subcontractors.
Conduct concept studies & Drive design and contribute to technologies trade study selection process.
Analyze complex problems and define solutions, considering given requirements.
Develops, evaluates and compares technical solutions in order to determine optimal nominal solutions including multi-disciplinary trade-offs and respective reports.
lssue technical reports (e.g., Development and Verification plans, Specifications, Development and Qualification test plans, etc).
Review of technical results and documentation (incl. engineering and manufacturing drawings).
Conduct technical meetings & support the project manager in the conducting of regular project meetings (internal and external) and design reviews.
Coordinate and issue technical proposals.
Support the project manager in technical negotiations with customers and subcontractors/suppliers, be the primary technical interface to the customer.
Requirements / Skill set:
B.S. in Engineering.
5+ Years of relevant industry experience.
Very good understanding of composite and metallic materials in the following domains: mechanical, structural, thermal, acoustic and aerodynamic.
Ability to check engineering drawings for Fit, Form and Function.
Strong Computer Aided Drafting/Design skills using AutoCAD and/or Inventor.
Three dimensional (3D) design/drafting skills are preferred.
Knowledge of industry design and documentation standards.
Experience with mechanical assemblies and manufacturing technique design.
Risk management.
Proposal management.
Awareness of costs and schedule.
Problem solving skills.
Good communication and cooperation.
Organizational skills.
Familiarity with IBM DOORS and Enovia preferred.
MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and also Project).
