Kitting SpecialistThis role supports CNC machining operations by preparing, organizing, and staging all tools, materials, fixtures, and documentation required for production in an aerospace machine shop environment. The Kitting Specialist ensures machinists receive complete and accurate kits so they can run jobs efficiently, safely, and on schedule.ResponsibilitiesPrepare and stage complete production kits for CNC machining operations, including tools, materials, fixtures, and all required documentation.Read and interpret blueprints and job travelers to determine the correct tools, components, and materials needed for each job.Identify, pull, and return CNC tooling and accessories from the tool crib, such as end mills, drills, inserts, reamers, and taps.Support machinists on the shop floor by ensuring they have the correct tools and materials at the machine when needed.Organize and label kitted parts and tools clearly to prevent errors and reduce setup time at CNC machines.Coordinate and expedite materials and components to meet production schedules and minimize machine downtime.Inspect and verify that all parts, tools, and fixtures in each kit match the job requirements and documentation.Maintain accurate inventory of tools, fixtures, and consumables used in kitting and CNC operations.Collaborate with machining, mechanical assembly, and production teams to resolve kitting or tooling issues promptly.Use ERP/MRP or similar systems, when applicable, to track work orders, material status, and tool usage.Follow established procedures and best practices for kitting, tooling, and production support to ensure consistent quality.Support continuous improvement efforts by suggesting ways to improve kitting efficiency, organization, and workflow.Handle and move materials, components, and tooling safely, including using forklifts or other material-handling equipment when qualified.Essential SkillsAt least 2 years of experience in manufacturing, machining, kitting, tool crib, or production support roles.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and production documentation.Understanding of CNC machining processes and how tools, fixtures, and materials support those operations.Familiarity with cutting tools such as end mills, drills, inserts, reamers, and taps.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities simultaneously.High attention to detail to ensure accurate kitting and prevent production errors.Experience working in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.Ability to collaborate effectively with machinists, production, and assembly teams.Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working around CNC machines and mechanical assemblies.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in aerospace or precision manufacturing environments.Experience in CNC machines, CNC setup support, or tool crib operations.Experience with expediting materials and coordinating with production to meet deadlines.Exposure to mechanical assembly processes.Forklift experience or certification.Experience using ERP/MRP systems or similar production planning tools.Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with changing priorities.Why Work Here?You will join a growing manufacturing environment that offers clear opportunities for career development and advancement, including a potential path into a CNC machinist role.
