    Description

    The Kitting & Material Specialist role is responsible for inventory accuracy and kitting execution to support Engineering, Assembly, Test, and Program delivery at Technical Directions Inc. This role ensures the right material, in the right configuration, at the right time is available to support production and test execution.Kitting Execution & Material StagingPrepare, stage, and release material kits based on:Work ordersEngineering BOMsBuild schedulesEnsure all kits are:CompleteAccurateConfiguration‑controlledDeliver kits to production areas in alignment with build prioritiesMaintain clear identification and organization of all kitsConfiguration Control & BOM AlignmentVerify all materials match the correct:Part numbersRevisionsQuantitiesSupport implementation of engineering changes (ECR/ECO/ECN) impacting kitsPrevent use of incorrect, obsolete, or unapproved materialEnsure kits reflect the latest released configurationEnsure proper handling of:Lot‑controlled materialSerialized componentsShelf‑life sensitive itemsMaintain strict segregation of:Company‑owned materialGovernment‑owned material (FAR/DFARS compliance)Production & Shop Floor SupportRespond to:ShortagesMissing partsUrgent material needsAssist in resolving material‑related production issuesSupport rework, special builds, and engineering requestsCross‑Functional CoordinationPartner with:Buyers and Supply Chain on shortages and material statusEngineering and Configuration Management on BOM changesCommunicate material status clearly to stakeholdersSystems & Data Integrity (Digital Thread)Maintain accurate records of:InventoryKitting statusWork order material consumptionEnsure data integrity supports:Production executionQuality traceabilityProgram visibilityContinuous Improvement & 6S DisciplineFollow established material handling, kitting, and inventory proceduresMaintain clean, organized, and visual kitting areas (6S standards)Identify opportunities to improve:Kitting efficiencyMaterial flowInventory accuracySupport standardization of kitting processes and layoutsSupervisory ResponsibilityMay include leadership, coordination, and oversight of kitting activities through assigned direct reports.Experience & SkillsRequired Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to interpret:BOMsWork ordersPart numbers and revisionsStrong communication and coordination skillsAbility to work in a fast‑paced production environmentAbility to manage confidential and export‑controlled information (ITAR)Preferred ExperienceExperience in aerospace, defense, or regulated manufacturing environmentsFamiliarity with:AS9100D material control and traceability requirementsERP/MRP systems (Costpoint preferred)Barcode or inventory tracking systemsBasic proficiency with Microsoft ExcelEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent1-3 years of experience in:KittingInventory controlWarehouse or manufacturing supportPreferred Education and ExperienceExperience supporting high‑mix, low‑volume manufacturing environmentsExperience working with engineering‑driven BOM changesJob BenefitsMedical, Dental & Vision Insurance CoverageLife/ADD & Short/Long Term Disability Insurance401(k) Savings PlanEmployee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)Paid Time-Off (PTO)HolidaysEducation ReimbursementKratos Defense is an Equal Opportunity Affinitive Action Employer.
