    Summary/Objective:

    The manager is responsible for overseeing the daily processing, settlement and exception management of certain payment transactions and clearing activities for the credit union. The role ensures the accurate and timely settlement of ACH in-clearings whilemaintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, network rules and internal policies. The manager leads operational staff, supports system enhancements, mitigates risk and drives process improvements.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Manage the daily processing and settlement of incoming clearing transactions across payment channels such as ACH and check processing
    • Ensure settlement activities are completed accurately and within established service level agreements and network deadlines
    • Monitor daily balancing and reconciliation processes for payment and settlement accounts
    • Oversee exception processing, returns, adjustments and dispute resolution
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies and processing exceptions
    Supervisory responsibilities
    • Provide leadership, coaching and performance management for items processing specialists
    • Ensure adequate staffing levels and cross training to support business continuity
    • Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture focused on member experience and operational excellence
    Risk Management and Compliance
    • Maintain compliance with NACHA operating rules, Reg CC, Reg E, UCC guidelines and applicable federal and state regulations
    • Ensure adherence to credit union policies, procedures and internal controls
    • Support internal and external audits, regulatory examinations and compliance reviews

    Required education and experience
    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting or a related field preferred
    • Minimum 5 years of financial institution operations experience including clearing, settlement or deposit operations
    • 2 - 3 years of supervisory or management experience preferred
    • Payments certification preferred (or willing to obtain)
