    Description

    The Importer of Record (IOR) team is entrusted with ensuring all legal requirements are met before a shipment can clear through customs. This entails making sure that the product classification is correct and that all imported goods have been accurately valued. The team is responsible for the payment of duties, tariffs, and taxes and for completing all required compliance documentation and paperwork.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    • Preparing and processing documents and permits for international imports and exports.
    • Ensure all legal requirements are met for customs clearance of goods.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of each transaction per shipment.
    • Track shipments to ensure they arrive in a timely and precise manner.
    • Enter all necessary data and financials of each shipment using an ERP system.
    • Perform other miscellaneous duties, as required to meet the needs of our client.

    Qualifications

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Experienced in determining jurisdiction and classification of technologies as well as analyzing qualifications for license exemptions and exceptions
    • Ability to grasp and articulate technical concepts both verbally and in writing
    • Demonstrate ability to participate in multi-functional teams working to solve complex export/import problems and drive issues to conclusions
    • Team player, self-starter, communications, and customer service skills
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Initiative, ingenuity, and judgment to set priorities, plan, make decisions, and complete requirements and assignments on time.
    • Must be able to manage multiple projects at once.

    Education and Experience:

    • Minimum of 2 years' experience with navigating and interpreting the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), and the US Customs Regulations
    • Bachelor's degree in supply chain or relevant field required.
    • Two to five years of experience in a similar position preferred.
