The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) protects public health and the environment by supplying clean drinking water, collecting and treating wastewater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal waterand wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP delivers more than 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water daily to 8.5 million NYC residents and more than 1 million Upstate New Yorkers, and operates a wastewater system capable of processing over 1.3 billion gallons per day. The Bureau of Environmental Compliance (BEC) enforces environmental laws and regulations that impact public health and safety. The bureau oversees the City's Asbestos Regulations and the Air and Noise Codes through its divisions: Air & Noise Policy, Permitting and Enforcement, and the Asbestos Control Program. BEC seeks to hire one (1) Clerical Associate IV to provide clerical and administrative support in our Lefrak office in Queens, NY. The duties and responsibilities are to include the following:
Qualification Requirements A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience. Skills Requirement Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
- 2 or more years working in Human Resources and familiarity with the city hiring process. - Familiarity with the Civil Service Process. - Excellent communication skills. - Customer orientation and ability to adapt to different circumstances and responsibilities. - Preferences will be given to candidates with computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Systems. - Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. - Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively. - Effectively communicate with job applicants and existing employees regarding various policies, internal requirements, benefits, evaluations, time and leave and general work expectations, etc.
