Thompson is headquartered in Sumter, South Carolina with offices spanning the United States, primarily southeast and central United States.Position DescriptionOversee the implementation of Thompson's Inspection and Test Plans (ITP'S) per the assigned site. Review materials to ASTM Requirements, which includes measuring of the components to ensure they are within the specification's tolerance. This includes working with employees as well as outside agencies or consultants involved in inspections and testing.Job ResponsibilitiesGenerate documentation to provide assurance of compliance to contract requirements, ITP's and Thompson's QA ManualEnsure all Quality Control records are maintained in an orderly, easily accessible, up to date and secure mannerEnsure policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for Quality Control are being followed for field work and are documented when requiredEnsure that materials, workmanship and construction are in full compliance with the contract plans and specifications, and applicable building codesGenerate Non Conformance Report (NCR) for any condition that does not comply with the applicable requirements or specificationsBe knowledgeable of assigned inspection criteriaRequire that defective work or material be corrected or removed until made compliantApprove receipt of materials per ASTM requirementsPerform dimensional checks on materials in questionConduct business in a professional and ethical mannerEffectively coach Craft in quality program processesOther duties as assignedJob Qualifications5 years of work experience in the construction fieldAble to navigate Code books and technical manualsProficient at understanding construction drawingsHave a general understanding of various structural bolting methods (turn of the nut, direct tension indicators, impact wrenches, etc.)Ability to use coatings inspection toolsAbility to verify materials using Material Test Reports (MTR's)Familiarity with construction workplace health and safety conceptsAttention to detail and completes documentation in timely mannerMust be at least 18 years of ageMust be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively.Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments40 or more hours per week with possible weekend workBackground check and drug screen based on job location/requirementsWe strive to provide a competitive compensation and benefits package.
