Job Description Summary

The Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for developing and leading a comprehensive alumni engagement program that strengthens alumni connection to the University and increases participation. The position establishes engagement strategies, manages alumni programs and volunteer leadership, and guides outreach efforts.
The role serves as the institutional lead for alumni engagement and operates with a high degree of independence in setting direction, developing initiatives, and guiding alumni involvement. The position collaborates across campus to support coordinated relationship-building and long-term engagement goals.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

FUNCTIONS;
  1. Alumni Engagement Strategy and Program Development
  2. Alumni volunteer Leadership and Outreach
  3. Alumni Communications, Date Tracking, and Program Assessment
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Alumni Engagement Strategy and Program Development
    • Develops and leads a structured alumni engagement strategy and program, including events and initiatives designed to increase alumni participation and strengthen connection to the University
    • Establishes annual plans and priorities to cultivate and identify Annual Giving and Major Giving prospects
    • Designs and oversees engagement initiatives and events
    • Evaluates program effectiveness and adjusts strategies as needed
  2. Alumni volunteer Leadership and Outreach
    • Leads development and management of alumni volunteer structure
    • Builds and sustains relationships with alumni leaders
    • Guides volunteer-led initiatives and ensures alignment with Advancement and University priorities
    • Establishes processes and expectations for volunteer participation to support consistency and sustainability of the alumni engagement program
  3. Alumni Communications, Date Tracking, and Program Assessment
    • Develops alumni communications (email, newsletters, and digital content) to promote engagement and participation
    • Maintains and analyzes alumni engagement data within the advancement CRM system to guide decisions
    • Tracks and reports on engagement metrics, including event participation, volunteer activity, etc. to evaluate program effectiveness
    • Collaborates across campus to support alumni-related initiatives and broader engagement efforts

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field
  2. 4 years of relevant experience
PREFERRED:
  • Event planning experience;
  • Experience in higher education advancement;
  • Alumni engagement experience;
  • Familiarity with CRM systems
