Genesis Staffing is looking for Designers (3D) to support Virginia Class submarine model conversions.
Position: Designer II
Location: Newport News, VA (100% On-Site)
Position Summary:
This position supports design initiatives for Virginia Class model file conversions. The Designer I will convert 3D models into the Siemens NX application, including setting up construction views. This role involves working across all trade disciplines and contributing to the development and improvement of shipbuilding designs that support manufacturing operations.
This is not a drafting-only position-candidates must be involved in design development and system-level thinking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Convert existing 3D models into Siemens NX, including setup of construction views
- Design components or portions of systems and modify existing designs to improve functionality and manufacturability
- Work across multiple disciplines including Structure, Electrical, Piping, Mechanical, Ventilation, and Sheetmetal
- Utilize tools such as CAD, CAM, NX, and CATIA
- Gather information, perform studies, and develop layouts, sketches, and design proposals
- Create and support manufacturing and installation drawings
- Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, materials, and planning teams
- Ensure designs meet manufacturing requirements, material availability, and contractual specifications

Required Qualifications:- Associate's Degree and 1 year of experience
- OR 2 years of related experience in lieu of degree
- OR 4 years of non-related experience in lieu of degree
- OR Apprentice Certificate or Navy Nuclear Power School in lieu of degree
- Experience with 3D modeling and design software
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as NX, CATIA, or Inventor
- Ability to support manufacturing and installation drawing creation
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams
