    Genesis Staffing is looking for Designers (3D) to support Virginia Class submarine model conversions.

    Position: Designer I
    Location: Newport News, VA (100% On-Site)

    Position Summary:
    This position supports design initiatives for Virginia Class model file conversions. The Designer I will convert 3D models into the Siemens NX application, including setting up construction views. This role works across all trade disciplines and contributes to the development and improvement of shipbuilding designs that directly support manufacturing operations.
    This is not a drafting-only role-candidates must have hands-on design experience.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Convert existing 3D models into Siemens NX, including construction view setup
    • Design components or portions of systems and modify existing designs to improve products and manufacturing processes
    • Work across multiple disciplines including Structure, Electrical, Piping, Mechanical, Ventilation, and Sheetmetal
    • Utilize design tools such as CAD, CAM, NX, and CATIA
    • Gather data, perform studies, and develop layouts, sketches, and design proposals
    • Create and support manufacturing and installation drawings
    • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, materials, and planning teams
    • Ensure designs align with manufacturability, material availability, and contract specifications

    • 100% on-site role in Newport News, VA
    • Long-term project with potential for permanent placement

    • Must be comfortable working in a multi-discipline, production-driven environment
    Required Qualifications:
    • Associate's Degree and 6 years of experience
      • OR 2 years of related experience in lieu of degree
      • OR 4 years of non-related experience in lieu of degree
      • OR Apprentice Certificate or Navy Nuclear Power School in lieu of degree
    • Experience with 3D modeling and design software
    • Proficiency with CAD tools (NX, CATIA, Inventor, etc.)
    • Experience in shipyard, marine, or heavy industrial design environments
    • Ability to create and interpret manufacturing/installation drawings
    • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
