Composite Design Eng - Pacific NW - Remote possible - Apr 2023 - 1914
Our client in the Pacific NW area is a Company Leading the Industry in Designing, Testing, and Manufacturing Composite products in the Aerospace Industry and is looking for several Composite Design Engineer using CATIA V5 or V6 to provide engineering support for their Company.
Position purpose/core responsibilities:
Main Duties:
- The Design Engineer is responsible for the new product development of composite structures.
- Coordinates with manufacturing and procurement teams during the development cycle and facilitates the implementation of new composite products.
- Utilize CATIA design software and equipment to perform designing tasks, including: engineering layouts, full product development, modeling, design details, drawing creation (details and assemblies), schematics and part lists.
- Analyze research data and review product specifications to determine the feasibility of product introduction.
- Facilitate new product development with appropriate stakeholders, providing engineering support, liaison and coordinate the building of product prototypes.
- Partners with internal and external partners to identify product improvements and implement design modifications as needed.
Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of design and aerospace concepts, standards, practices and procedures, including: material selection, lay-up optimization, panel construction design, design parameters (top level design philosophy, gage driven), and composite structures.
- Basic design knowledge and understanding of commonly used design guideline and concepts.
- Understanding of aerospace hardware.
- Creativity to provide conceptual ideas and design solutions to address structural problems.
- Ability to identify structural requirements.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Advanced analytical skills and the capacity to use experience and knowledge to make sound judgments.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across cross-functional teams.
Education:
- Bachelors or Maters degree in Aerospace or Engineering from an ABET accredited institution preferred or an equivalent level of qualifications and relevant composite experience
- 5+ years of composite industry design experience
Experience:
- Primary or secondary aircraft structure experience required such as Payloads/ECS structures, ducting systems, pack boards, monuments, bins etc
- Aerospace and manufacturing industry experience preferred
- 3D parametric computer aided design tools required, CATIA V5 and V6 preferred, Inventor, Solidworks, CREO experience will be considered
- Inventor, SolidWorks or Catia (4 years).
