Location: Dix Hills, NY Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM Work Arrangement: Fully onsite for the first 2–3 months, transitioning to a hybrid schedule of 3–4 days onsite per week Compensation: $25–30/hour, based on experience Position Type: Temp-to-Perm
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Customer Support / Order Entry Specialist to join their team in Dix Hills, NY. This role is ideal for someone with strong order processing, customer service, and ERP/EDI experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing customer orders, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring a positive customer experience from order placement through fulfillment.
Responsibilities
- Process and enter customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Manage order acknowledgments, updates, and modifications
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customer inquiries regarding orders, shipments, and product information
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure timely order fulfillment
- Monitor open orders and proactively communicate status updates to customers
- Maintain accurate customer and order data within the ERP system
- Review and process EDI transactions and troubleshoot discrepancies as needed
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate
- Assist with inventory, shipping, and logistics-related inquiries
- Support additional administrative and customer service functions as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in customer support, order entry, inside sales support, or a related role
- Experience working with ERP systems and/or EDI platforms required
- Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook and Excel
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and customer service skills
- High school diploma required; additional education is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, or related industries
- Familiarity with inventory management and shipping processes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
