Mid-Level Termination Contract Specialist

OBXtek is seeking several mid-level Termination Contract Specialists. The specialist will provide expert guidance on the procedural, legal, and operational requirements for terminating contracts, ensuring compliance with USAID and U.S. Governmentregulations. This is a hybrid, full-time role in Washington DC area, working closely with Contracting Officers (COs), legal counsel, technical offices, and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise on terminations for convenience or default of contracts. Individuals must have demonstrated abilities to assimilate and apply knowledge on all types of award mechanisms quickly and efficiently.
• Prepare all required documentation for award terminations, including termination notices, determinations and findings, negotiation memoranda, and settlement agreements.
• Interpret and apply applicable sections of the FAR and USAID supplemental regulations and policies.
• Process actions in USAID's contracts and financial management system.
• Coordinate with the Office of General Counsel, technical teams, and implementing partners to manage the termination process.
• Assess financial, contractual, and programmatic implications of terminations and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
• Ensure post-termination actions, including audits, final payments, and closeouts, are completed in compliance with USAID policy.
• Develop guidance, templates, and training materials to strengthen USAID's institutional approach to award terminations.

Work on-site 3 days per week

Qualifications:

• FAC-C Professional or CFCM certification is required.
• At least 5 years' of experience in US government contract management with at least 1 year of experience terminating contracts and negotiating termination settlements.
• Bachelor's degree in Business.
• Contract requires candidates with no USAID experience.
• Capability to quickly assimilate new information and become proficient in topics for which they may not have knowledge, e.g. Government to Government, Title II, Interagency Awards, and Public International Organizations.
