These are the qualifications that matter.
- High school diploma or GED required
- At least 1 year of experience in diesel engine, mechanical, or electrical repair
- Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with equipment maintenance and testing procedures
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
- Good communication skills and team-oriented mindset
- Ability to operate mechanical tools and testing equipment safely
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Work performed in both shop and field environments, with occasional exposure to outdoor elements
Maintenance & Repair
- Perform fueling, sanding, and daily inspections of locomotives
- Execute preventive maintenance according to established schedules
- Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, and air brake systems
- Complete basic mechanical and electrical repairs to maintain equipment performance
- Travel locally using company vehicles to perform maintenance in the field
- Conduct visual inspections of locomotives and service vehicles
- Accurately maintain maintenance logs and records
- Sign off on completed work orders
- Follow all company safety protocols and regulatory guidelines
- Work closely with team members to meet operational goals
- Communicate equipment issues and updates to management
- Suggest improvements to processes and procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
