    Randstad Engineering Solutions is looking for a qualified CATIA designer to join our team. This is an opportunity to expand your knowledge in product development in a hands-on environment.

    Required Skills

    - Extensive 3D CAD modelling experience in CATIA V5- Ability to develop complex 3D CAD models/detailed drawings including rotating parts/assemblies

    Job Duties

    You will be expected to support the following with the help of the client:

    • Injection molded plastic component design.
    • Concept design according to product requirements, lessons learned, and design guidelines.
    • Support Mechanical Lead with component and subsystem development in NPD projects.
    • Responsible for necessary layouts and basic calculations required to satisfactorily solve design objectives and meet parameters.
    • Attend and support design reviews on a timely basis and ensure that designs have been properly reviewed for safety considerations in accordance with Product Creation Process (PCP) guidelines.
    • Review finished drawings for accuracy of design, tolerances, fits, manufacturing capability, materials, drafting standards, etc to ensure the designs are functionally correct.
    • Collaborate on test plan creation and fulfillment to include: oversight of construction and testing of pilot run models assigned, writing test procedures as required, analyzing test data, and making necessary changes and improvements.
    • Participate in cost reduction and product improvement projects, including making recommendations and supporting the implementation of projects to incorporate quality improvements and or cost reductions.
    • Assist in resolving production issues in a timely and effective manner.
    Job Requirements

    - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Plastics Engineering or related technical field is preferred but not required.- 3+ years of related engineering experience.- Relevant experience in Product Design.- Experience designing, releasing, and producing injection molded parts.- Knowledge of various additional manufacturing processes for high volume, repetitive assembly (to include but not limited to: die casting, blow molding, roto molding, stampings, laser cutting, sheet metal, weldments, powder metal).- Experience in writing parameters for assigned design projects including scheduling, cost data, serviceability and functional requirements.- Extensive 3D CAD modelling experience, CATIA V5.- Hands on experience working on robotics, automation, outdoor power equipment or other powered machinery preferred.- Design experience with high volume consumer products that perform a function preferred.- Ability to develop more complex 3D CAD modelling/technical drawings.- Basic knowledge of manufacturing operations.- Ability to gather and process data for root cause analyses.- Ability to travel to domestic and/or international sites.- Ability to be flexible and adaptive to internal processes and changes, delays or unexpected events.- Knowledge and understanding of FEA, DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T for part design preferred.- Knowledge and/or experience with SmarTeam, HPM, PLM databases, and other software programs useful to engineering functions preferred.
