Position Summary

The Advising, Counseling & Support Services Department is recruiting for one part time Allied Health Counseling Associate. The counseling associate (LPC-Associate) will assist in Counseling Center service delivery and in achieving the Counseling Center goals of supporting students at Victoria College. The counseling associate will report to the Lead Counselor, and will assist with student mental health counseling services, crisis intervention services, and counseling center related events/activities in VC's Allied Health Programs.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Individual mental health counseling services for Allied Health students
• Documentation and note taking of aforementioned counseling services
• Treatment planning and revision
• Suicide Prevention and Intervention outreach programming
• Assessment and report writing
• Community and campus related mental health event engagement
• Crisis intervention services and skills
• Group therapy implementation, drafting, and record keeping
• Student educational seminar implementation and drafting
• Collaborate with additional treatment providers and placement agencies
• Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner
• Creates a positive and productive work environment through organization, assessments, and feedback
• The counseling associate will adhere to confidentiality requirements of the counseling profession. FERPA guidelines will be adhered to at all times.
• This is a grant funded position expected to last one calendar year (until 9/1/27)

Qualifications

• Current, active Licensed Professional Counseling Associate license active within the State of Texas required
• Be in good licensure standing with no complaints
• Master's Degree in Counseling or a related field required
• Previous experience in mental health and college related mental health counseling
• Familiarity with Victoria, TX area mental health related community resources
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to develop mutual trust with patients
• Strong leadership skills

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds while loading event supplies, booth equipment, office supplies and paper. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
