Aircraft Interior Galley Engineer - Los Angeles CA - 0401

We have an immediate contract or direct opening for an aircraft Mechanical Engineer with our client in Los Angeles CA who is a leading provider of Aircraft Interior Modifications. Our client in CA is in the development phase of a large program and is only interested in candidates who have extensive experience in using SolidWorks and electromechanical products design such as Microwave ovens, Convection Ovens, Refrigerators, Coffee Makers, Espresso Machines, Wine chillers etc.

Job Description

Client's products design requires knowledge and experience of designing for functional requirements, performance, thermal, flammability, industrial design and qualification testing and certifications requirements. Not willing to provide training to a candidate who have no prior experience. This position is onsite demands daily interaction within the organization, need to visit shopfloor to understand the manufacturing issues and discuss ideas for design updates etc.

Essential functions:

• Perform detail design using SolidWorks to generate 3D CAD models, detail drawings & generate analysis reports per the company, customer specifications and applicable design standards.
• Prepare Qualification test plans, similarity reports, acceptance test procedures, qualification test reports & other engineering documentations to support the qualification & certification of products per the applicable FAA and RTCA DO160 guidelines.
• Develop and improve the design processes; create best practices & implementation across the projects.
• Review design, and manufacturing drawings in accordance with applicable industry and company standards.
• Process ECO/ECN and implement design changes on assigned products, generating drawings and documents and release them in EPDM system.

Skills

• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and computer-generated reports.

Proficient in generating 3D CAD models & Drawings using the SolidWorks software for aerospace sheetmetal, machined and plastic parts & assemblies.

• Knowledge of product data management and FE analysis.
• Proficient in SolidWorks Design Environment. Knowledge of CATIA is a plus.
• Proficient in developing Qualification Test Procedures and Reports.
• Excellent knowledge of Engineering Change Management Process.
• Background in aerospace engineering or mechanical engineering is preferred.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• Minimum of 5+ years' experience in product design, development and testing of products for aerospace applications.
• Experience in design & development of aircraft galley inserts and other aircraft interior components or systems.
• Strong SolidWorks experience is required.
