Position Summary
The Mobile Director of Nursing will provide clinical leadership and support to skilled nursing facilities experiencing DON vacancies or other nursing leadership needs throughout the Pittsburgh market. This individual will step into assigned facilities as the acting clinical leader, providing oversight of the nursing department, supporting survey readiness, stabilizing clinical operations, and helping facilities navigate leadership transitions. The ideal candidate is a seasoned Director of Nursing who can quickly assess a facility, build credibility with a nursing team, identify areas requiring attention, and take ownership of clinical operations with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and oversight for nursing operations at assigned skilled nursing facilities
• Stabilize nursing departments during DON vacancies and leadership transitions
• Lead facility turnaround initiatives and improve clinical operations
• Prepare facilities for federal and Pennsylvania state regulatory surveys
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state skilled nursing regulations
• Supervise, coach, and develop nursing leaders and frontline staff
• Monitor clinical performance and implement appropriate corrective actions
• Build trust and credibility quickly when entering an unfamiliar facility
• Partner with Administrators, Regional leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve clinical and operational goals
• Support quality improvement initiatives and promote positive clinical outcomes
• Step into unit manager or other clinical leadership responsibilities between DON assignments when needed
• Travel consistently throughout the Pittsburgh market, including overnight stays when required
Qualifications
• Active, unencumbered RN license in Pennsylvania required
• Minimum 2 years of Director of Nursing experience in a skilled nursing facility
• Demonstrated experience preparing for and successfully navigating regulatory surveys
• Proven experience stabilizing nursing departments and leading through challenging transitions
• Strong knowledge of federal and Pennsylvania skilled nursing regulations
• Experience leading and developing clinical teams in a skilled nursing environment
• Strong independent decision-making and clinical judgment
• Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
• Highly adaptable and comfortable working in high-pressure environments
• Ability and willingness to travel consistently, including overnight stays
• Must be local to the Pittsburgh market or willing to relocate
