Provides a therapeutic presence in service to others by purposefully responding to the needs of patients in a caring way, including introducing oneself and explaining role in patient's care, asking the patient his or her preferred name, sitting with the patient to determine his or her care goals, active listening, and communicating effectively and appropriately through touch, eye contact, etc. EXPERIENCE: Required: Current Licensure/Certification as an EMT, CNA1, CNA2, MA, Paramedic OR candidates without an active license listed above: 1 year experience in a direct clinical patient care environment (EMS, hospital, urgent care, Military Corpsman/Medic, LTC facility), OR RN Students: completion of 1st quarter/semester of nursing school.
