The physician should also be proficient and privileged in all aspects of Anesthesiology. The Anesthesiologist will provide perioperative care including pre-operative assessment, intra-operative anesthetic, administration and monitoring of post-anesthesia care in compliance with national accreditation standards. The Anesthesiologist will provide expert consultation and guidance to CRNA, nursing, and other medical staff in the administration of the anesthesia programs. The incumbent will perform the administrative components of patient care management such as completion of progress notes, OP reports, and discharge summaries. In this role, the incumbent will also provide feedback and patient education to the patients and their families and will demonstrate excellence in all facets of patient care and meets or exceeds compliance standards. The incumbent may be asked to provide care in various settings to include the operating room, endoscopy procedure room, Invasive Radiology, CT and MRI, Cath Lab, and the Emergency Department. The duties and responsibilities of the Anesthesiologist include, but are not limited to, the following:<ul><li>Responsible for all aspects of medical care and provide or assist residents and/or the mid-level practitioner in the process of evaluation and treatment of the Surgery and Endoscopy patients who require Anesthesia</li><li>Evaluate the patient to assess changes in physical and mental status. A progress note is written in the patient's chart. Notes also include the concurrence of notes written by the resident and mid-level, as appropriate.</li><li>Coordinating with providers within and outside of their own Service Line, and with other VHA facilities or community providers as determined by the plan of care for the veteran.</li><li>Ensuring that barriers for Veterans and staff are minimized in order to promote a positive work environment, and foster positive working relationships with staff, peers and Veterans.</li><li>Expected to share on-call responsibilities with other anesthesiologists</li></ul>
