GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of Supervisor I - Zoo the work involves a wide range of customer service duties sales support functions and directing Abilene Zoo visitor traffic. Will assist in leading the work of Guest Services employees and other associated activities including assisting with Abilene Zoo activities functions events and programs.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
In the absence of the Supervisor I - Zoo this position will function as the supervisor over Zoo Guest Services employees.
IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Perform general customer services functions including answering guest inquiries giving directions providing information of zoo functions and activities.
Process incoming and outgoing calls process register payments reservation and visitation paperwork.
Operation of all Guest Services attractions rides equipment and food preparation.
Maintain inspect clean inventory and follow policies and procedures of assigned equipment areas and surrounding spaces.
Provides administrative support for the Supervisor I - Zoo.
Oversee inspect and assist with the reconciliation of Guest Services registers to ensure accuracy and discrepancy prevention.
Manage and oversee cash handling function for all sale activities.
Compile and balance daily revenue statements in accordance with Abilene Zoo standards.
Mediate Guest Service issues problems questions quickly and effectively.
Ensure employees are current on training and other position relevant information.
Assess inventory stocksupply levels including receiving and counting incoming inventory shipments
Merchandise and display Gift Shop items in accordance with set standards and layout plans.
Assists with the day-to-day operations of the Abilene Zoo.
Operate City vehicles Zoo rides attractions and other motorized equipment.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of
Money handling to ensure proper accuracy and documentation of store registers and safe.
Registers sales and inventory components in a retail store setting.
Basic math skills including addition subtraction multiplication division and percentages.
General customer service.
The safe operation of equipmentvehicles.
Skill to
Proficient typing skills to create maintain and compile reports and other paperwork.
Troubleshoot and repair retail POS terminals.
Manage time effectively.
Provide exceptional customer service relations.
Efficiently and accurately manage cash handling functions.
Interact with zoo guests in a professional and courteous way.

Experience and Training Guidelines
For positions with more than one level all listed requirements at the lower levels are required at the higher levels. Any combination equivalent to experience and training to provide the required knowledge skills and abilities may be qualifying. Knowledge skills and abilities may be obtained through
Experience
Two 2 years of retail sales experience or similar environment is required. One 1 year of lead worker or supervisory experience in a retail or similar environment is preferred.
EducationTraining
High School Diploma or GED is required.
License or Certificate
A valid Texas drivers license the ability to obtain one within ninety 90 days of employment or a military waiver is required.
First Aid and CPR certifications are required or the ability to obtain them within ninety 90 days of employment is required.
Food Safety Manager Certification is required or ability to obtain one within thirty 30 days of employment is required.
Special Requirements
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule that may include nights holidays and weekends.
Work in outdoor conditions and in extreme heat and cold.
