Job Description The York site of BAE Systems is presently seeking a Maintenance Person Mechanic to support the 3rd Shift operation, 10pm - 6:30am. Voluntary weekend work as needed. Position is union represented.
Responsibilities include:
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
High School Diploma or GED
Completion of a state-certified apprenticeship program in a relevant technical field (mechanical, millwright, or equivalent)
OR: Associate''s or Bachelor''s degree in a relevant technical field, combined with 3 years of industrial experience in a mechanical or millwright trade
OR: A minimum of 5 years of documented experience in heavy industrial machine repair or millwright trade, with hands-on experience in:
Rigging and replacing gearboxes
Troubleshooting and repair of heavy equipment pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Reading and interpreting schematics
Key Skills and Experience:
Experience working from written work instructions
Ability to determine and obtain necessary tools, materials, and equipment to perform assigned jobs
Proficiency in operating various equipment, including:
Drill presses
Threading machines
Hydraulic presses
Burning and welding equipment
Mobile tractors, trucks, and cranes (overhead, pendulum, radio-controlled, and jib)
Experience with re-assembling, testing, and adjusting mechanical equipment to achieve proper operating characteristics
Familiarity with personal computers or data acquisition devices (e.g., bar-code technology)

This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which will determine your wages.
