JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Kids Connection Director, the Youth Development Leader this position will create a positive and enriching environment for our youth. Core responsibilities include leading, supervising, and evaluating daily programs, as well as guiding homework sessions Monday -- Thursday, including working non-school days as scheduled. This position requires flexibility, as assignments may change daily, weekly or monthly to best meet the programs needs. This position is part-time,
generally 18-25 hours per week with opportunities for increased hours during non-school days and school vacations. This position will accrue vacation and sick time at a reduced rate and is not eligible for full-time benefits. Position open until September 15, 2025.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Youth Development Leader implements engaging programs for youth in grades K-8, with participants separated into age-specific groups. You will be accountable for achieving program goals and objectives for each age group, as well as maintaining productive homework sessions to ensure all assignments are completed and youth are engaged in educational activities.
· Assist in developing and maintaining a safe environment that fosters positive youth development.
· Actively participate in program activities and development trainings to enhance the quality of the program to better serve students through engaging and educational experiences.
· Serve as a positive role model by providing guidance and leadership through positive examples, promoting respect, responsibility and good sportsmanship.
· Plan, coordinate and execute meaningful and age-appropriate activities and events that align with program goals, keep youth involved, learning and excited about participation.
· Assist participants with homework and facilitate youth activities as needed to support academic and personal growth
· Ensure and maintain accurate daily attendance tracking for safety compliance.
· Maintain a clean, organized and safe facility to provide a welcoming environment for participants and guests. Conducting regular safety checks and addressing concerns promptly.
· Communicate effectively with the Program Director regarding program progress, individual youth needs and any other concerns. Collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth program operations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Understanding of positive youth development practices, including age-appropriate activities, behavior management techniques, and fostering a safe, inclusive environment.
· Preferred knowledge of planning, recreational programming, and effective strategies for youth engagement.
· Familiarity with facility best practices to maintain a clean, organized and safe program space.
· Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to provide clear and effective communication to interact with youth, staff and parents. Including the ability to follow oral and written directions.
· Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a group environment and work with diverse and multidisciplinary teams.
· Ability to communicate effectively with youth, mediate youth to youth conflicts and assist in conflict resolution management as needs arise.
· Ability to think creatively an work independently to solve problems.
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out assigned duties and to reason with diverse groups and individuals, sometimes in difficult situations.
· Ability to perform basic organizational and process management skills, ensuring efficient program operations, accurate record keeping and completion of tasks.
· Proven skills in planning, coordinating and executing age-appropriate activities that align with program goals and keep youth actively involved and learning.
· Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, youth, parents and community.
· Willingness to work outdoors for extended periods of time as needed to facilitate.
· Ability to adapt to changing program needs and schedules, including working additional hours during non-school days and school vacations.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Job Requirements:
· Must be at least 18 years of age
·
Must have at least three (3) months (455 hours) of verified experience in the care
and supervision of four (4) or more children over the ages of four (4) who are not
related to the individual
· Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Colorado driver's license, if not currently held the ability to obtain a Colorado Driver's license by date of hire
· Must be a U.S. Citizen at time of application
· Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, and drug screen
· Must be able to pass CBI and FBI fingerprint check
Experience or Training:
· Demonstrated ability to work with children.
· A current early childhood professional credential level I preferred
· Working knowledge of procedures, equipment and material related to youth programming and facility management a plus.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Telephones, calculator, computer, copiers, typewrite/keyboard, and other similar office equipment. Cleaning equipment including floor mop machine, backpack vacuum and other small cleaning devices.

The work environment for this position frequently involves both indoor and outdoor settings and may include exposure to various weather conditions and frequent changes in environmental conditions. Primary functions are performed within a protected facility. The essential duties of this role are physically demanding and often require work in areas that are around playground equipment at off-site locations, i.e., parks, playgrounds, school yards.
Body Movement
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit, stand, walk, and utilize hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls including computers. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling is occasional. The employee may be required to frequently carry, pull, push or lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
This position will necessitate being around hazardous conditions, including walking on uneven surfaces with the presence of dangerous chemicals, and possibility of malfunctioning equipment.
