About the Role
The YES Supervisor plays a critical dual role for the organization. On one hand, you operate as a hands-on youth facing staff member, facilitating opportunities for learning, growth and development with our youth. On the other hand, you serve as the direct supervisor to a team of Youth Empowerment Specialists (YES Staff), enhancing and supporting the quality of services provided through case management as well as operationally lead the day-to-day functions of our residential programs. Your goal is to create and maintain a healthy, safe, supportive, and structured environment and to empower youth to learn healthy ways of behaving and interacting with others. You will bring a “heart of care” approach to your work and operate within the framework of the Mission Statement, Guiding Principles and policies and procedures of Covenant House Georgia.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
YOUTH ENGAGEMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES
Uphold Covenant House Georgia standards of conduct, policies and procedures at all times, including confidentiality requirements as well as ethical and professional boundaries with all youth and staff
Exercise and role model healthy verbal and non-verbal communication, engaging intentionally with youth throughout each shift to build trusting relationships and provide consistent support
Assist with program operations including youth intakes, transitions, answering phones, and supporting the basic needs of youth in the program
Provide trauma-informed support to youth, particularly during times of crisis, relapse, or personal challenges
Collaborate with team members to plan and implement youth engagement activities and programming facilitated by internal staff and external community partners, maintaining collaborative relationships that support positive youth outcomes
Participate in team meetings, shift change meetings, staff meetings, mandatory meetings, and organizational trainings to strengthen skills in youth engagement and trauma-informed care
Communicate regularly with Coordinators to ensure they remain informed of youth needs, concerns, or incidents
Provide support services for Case Managers, Interns and Supervisors including but not limited to the following:
Develop knowledge of the current community resources and referrals
Assist youth in cleaning facility as needed
Participate and conduct safety related drills
Assist with meal preparation as needed and follow food distribution procedures
Submit receipts for all petty cash or credit card expenditures to the Coordinator
Responsible for submitting completed time sheets by requested deadline
Follow all department procedures for resident schedule, shift transition, food preparation, intervention, and on-call utilization
Drive agency or personal vehicles to transport items and/or persons (valid Georgia Driver’s License with acceptable driving record as required by insurance company, Director level approval required to use a personal vehicle to transport items and/or persons)
SUPERVISOR SPECIFIC DUTIES
Provide direct face-to-face oversight and employ Milieu management techniques to heighten safety, promote structure and help our youth learn healthier ways of thinking, interacting, and behaving independently or in a group setting; you will be present within residential spaces for at least 75% of scheduled shifts
Ensure rover logs are completed thoroughly and accurately and oversee the monitoring of the physical condition of the facility by conducting internal and external rovers to ensure a clean, safe and hazard free environment
Serve as liaison to external entities; report all maintenance concerns to Facilities Manager
Develop and maintain work schedule of the YES Staff ensuring proper coverage of every shift and maintaining ratios
Train, develop and supervise YES program staff
Complete performance appraisals, recommendations for corrective action and create development plans
Ensure that evening and weekend YES staff assist our youth in preparing for the day; ensure appropriate dress; assist with the completion of all household tasks and in maintaining a clean and healthy living area
Make necessary contact with the on-call staff according to on call notification procedures
Run or co-facilitate monthly team meetings, community meetings and groups
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic understanding of adolescent development and behaviors
Ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with youth experiencing crisis or instability
Demonstrated empathy, patience, and the ability to support youth through difficult situations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and conflict resolution
Ability to respond calmly and effectively during crisis situations or emergencies
Knowledge of and ability to adhere to agency policies and procedures, including Child Protection Policies and safety protocols
Commitment to trauma-informed care and strengths-based approaches when working with youth
Ability to work effectively with and relate to individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, with openness and respect for differences in behavior
Self-motivated with sound judgment and initiative
Dependable with the ability to maintain consistent attendance and punctuality
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with basic computer systems and documentation tools
Ability to come to work prepared (fit and ready) and ready to fulfill responsibilities of the role
Required Qualifications
2 to 5 years’ experience working with at-risk youth
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a residential setting desired; knowledge of mental health and substance use
Valid driver’s license and ability to successfully pass federal, state, and local background checks
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
CPR and First Aid certification desired
Associate's, bachelor's or master's degree in human services
Expected Hours/Shift
This role operates on a Week I and Week II alternating schedule with some flexibility upon request. These are the weekly expected schedules, but they are subject to change based on the needs of the organization.

Pay: $21.43/Hour (non-negotiable)
Working Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Must be able to lift up to 5-35 lbs. Ability to work standing, walking, and/or sitting a minimum of 8 hours per day/shift. Some weekend/holiday work may be required. Ability to drive agency or personal vehicles to transport items and/or persons. Ability to travel as needed for training, donor meetings or to fulfill job requirements.
