IntroductionThis is skilled technical work at the Waste To Energy WTE plant.ÂÂBargaining unit position.Nature Of WorkAn employee in this class performs technical work monitoring and controllingboiler turbine and auxiliary waste to energy plant equipment during anassigned shift. Under limited supervision duties are routine within prescribed limitsrequiring special knowledge of the equipment used in the waste to energy plant.Duties typically require climbing ladders stairs and catwalks operating fireextinguishing equipment exposure to large machinery and confined spaces andnormal concentration. The position requiresanalyzing facts to determine the proper course of action within limits ofstandard procedures requiring the exercise of reasonableinitiative and independent judgment. Employees must comply with appropriate safety precautionswhen dealing with gas system electrical system and other similar componentsand processes within the plant environment. Shift work will be requiredincluding nights weekends and holidays. Tasks require the ability to work ina team and goal oriented environment. Work is reviewed by observation resultsand goals attained and reports submitted.Examples of DutiesAssists the PlantOperator in the daily operation of theplant in the field investigates changes in instrument readings and equipmentoperation notifies Plant Operator andor Shift Supervisor of operational inconsistenciesor other concerns may relieve the Plant Operator of control room operations incompliance with any licensing guidelines where applicable.Inspects turbinegenerator air pollution control and other crucialsystems recognizes and mitigates operating difficulties and adapts to changingplant conditions.ÂOperates andadjusts air pollution control system to maximize performance troubleshootsproblems and assesses probable cause coordinates work with maintenance crewsand the Plant Operator.ÂMaintains plantoperations logs and other documentation uses standard office and specializedcomputer systems as well as a mobile maintenance management tracking device.Operatesdemineralization system and makes required adjustments test and treats boilerwater records data and performs chemical adjustments.ÂPerforms relatedwork as required.Knowledge Skills & AbilitiesAdvanced knowledgeof operation maintenance andcontrol of steam-generating power plants waste to energy plant lockouttagoutprocedures safety rules and procedures job hazard analyses operating andmaintenance instructions and other procedure manuals.Knowledge of mechanical skills sufficient to perform such routine tasks as openingvessel and equipment access doors placing and removing furnace accessequipment overhead protection and staging operating power tools andperforming minor mechanical repairs to plant equipment or structures basicsafety practices mathematicssufficient to complete required job functions.ÂAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships communicate clearlyand concisely apply intermediate computer skills Microsoft Office and CMMS.Minimum QualificationsGraduation from anaccredited high school or equivalent with two 2 years of solid wastecombustion facility experience or related occupations such as design start-upor maintenance of steam turbines boilers or related machinery which supplypower or heating service to an industrial maritime or commercial process orfacility or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Current employeeswith 1 year of experience as a Utility Operator II who have completed theinternal training program are encouraged to apply for consideration.Licenses or CertificationsPossession ofvalid Florida driverâs license.Possession ofvalid Provisional Certification under the ASME QRO Certification for operatorsof Resource Recovery Facilities with the ability to obtain the certificationwithin 6 months.Must completeAssistant Plant Operator training within 6 months.ExaminationEvaluation ofÂeducation and experience.
