POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Wraparound Care Specialist provides a safe, structured, and engaging environment for students participating in before and after school programming. This role supports the social-emotional well-being, enrichment, and supervision of students in a general school population setting.

The Wraparound Care Specialist ensures students begin and end their school day in a positive, supportive atmosphere that reinforces school expectations, promotes responsibility, and fosters meaningful relationships. This position plays a vital role in maintaining continuity between the school day and extended care programming.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

a. Student Supervision & Safety

  • Supervise students during, before, and after school hours.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and inclusive environment at all times.
  • Monitor arrival and dismissal procedures to ensure accurate attendance and student accountability.
  • Enforce school-wide expectations and behavior guidelines consistently and respectfully.
  • Respond appropriately to minor behavioral concerns and escalate concerns as needed.

b. Program Implementation

  • Facilitate structured activities including homework support, games, arts and crafts, STEM activities, recreation, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Support quiet work time and assist students with homework as needed.
  • Encourage positive peer interactions and cooperative play.
  • Prepare and organize materials for daily programming.

c. Social-Emotional Support

  • Model respectful communication, problem-solving, and self-regulation strategies.
  • Reinforce positive behavior using developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Support students in resolving conflicts constructively.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.

d. Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student participation and minor concerns as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with school-day staff to ensure continuity of expectations and student support.
  • Report incidents, injuries, or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Participate in staff meetings or training sessions as assigned.

e. Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate daily attendance records.
  • Follow all school safety procedures and emergency protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and school policies.
  • Complete required documentation and incident reports promptly.
