‍️ Position Overview

The Registered Nurse Wound Care Nurse is responsible for coordinating and managing the facility's wound care program while working collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, therapy, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure exceptional clinical outcomes.

This role focuses on prevention, assessment, treatment, education, and documentation while serving as a clinical resource for the nursing department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive skin and wound assessments
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized wound care treatment plans
  • Monitor wound healing progress and modify care plans as appropriate
  • Conduct routine skin and wound rounds throughout the facility
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapy, dietitians, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Educate nursing staff on wound prevention, treatment techniques, and skin integrity
  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation and regulatory compliance
  • Monitor pressure injury prevention initiatives
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities
  • Promote best practices for infection prevention and wound management

Qualifications

Required

  • Current Alabama Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Compassionate, resident-centered approach to care
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position

Preferred

  • Wound Care Certification (WCC, WOCN, or similar) preferred
  • Experience in long-term care, rehabilitation, or skilled nursing
  • Experience managing wound care programs and pressure injury prevention
