Fern Creek Christian Church is a growing, Christ-centered church family in southeast Louisville with an average Sunday morning attendance of approximately 1,050 people. Our mission is simple and central to everything we do: to make disciples who make disciples. We are a church "in Fern Creek, for Fern Creek," committed to loving our community, living out authentic faith, and helping people grow to live, love, and lead like Jesus.

Worship at Fern Creek is not performance-it is discipleship. We value authentic, Christcentered worship where people encounter Jesus, respond to the Holy Spirit, and are formed into deeper obedience to Him in everyday life. We are supported by a worship team of 60+ volunteers, a Worship Vision Team of 6 leaders, a part-time Worship Administrator who supports scheduling, planning, communication, and ministry organization, and a 3/4-time Production Director who oversees all worship environments and production systems across services.

Position Overview

The Worship Minister will lead and shepherd the worship ministry of Fern Creek Christian Church, creating Spirit-led, biblically grounded worship environments that align with the mission and theology of the church.

This is first and foremost a pastoral leadership role-focused on discipling people, building healthy teams, and cultivating a worship culture marked by authenticity, humility, and spiritual depth. The Worship Minister will also provide musical leadership and work closely with the teaching team to shape meaningful, well-prepared services.

This role will oversee three Sunday morning worship services (9:00, 10:15, and 11:30) and will play a key leadership role in launching a fourth worship service on Thursday nights beginning Fall 2026, expanding our capacity to serve a growing congregation and reach new people in our community.

We are looking for a leader who values both excellence and discipleship, and who sees worship as formation-not performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead worship weekly across multiple services in Christ-centered, congregational settings
• Collaborate with the teaching pastor to plan and shape services
• Select biblically faithful songs that align with teaching and discipleship
• Shepherd, disciple, and develop worship team volunteers spiritually and musically
• Build and sustain healthy, relational, and growing volunteer teams
• Lead organized rehearsals that balance excellence with spiritual formation
• Cultivate a team culture marked by humility, unity, and joy
• Provide pastoral care, encouragement, and accountability for team members
• Create worship environments that engage both believers and non-believers
• Work with production/tech teams as needed to support service flow
• Lead special services and church-wide worship moments (Easter, Christmas, etc.)

Qualifications

Required

• Proven ability to lead worship vocally and/or instrumentally (guitar or piano preferred)
• Experience leading worship and developing teams in a church context
• Strong understanding of Scripture and commitment to biblical authority
• Agreement with core Christian doctrine (Trinity, deity of Christ, salvation through Christ alone, baptism by immersion)
• Ability to lead spiritually, not just musically

Preferred

• 2-5+ years of worship or ministry leadership experience
• Experience in a Christian Church / Restoration Movement context or similar
• Familiarity with Planning Center, ProPresenter, and worship production tools
• Experience in churches of 500-1,000+ attendance • Songwriting, arranging, or multi-instrumental ability
• Experience building volunteer systems and team structures
