Job Summary

Elkin City Schools is searching for a Secondary Spanish World Language Teacher to join Elkin Middle School. The role involves creating engaging lesson plans, adapting instruction to meet student needs, and transitioning Elkin City Schools' Dual Language Immersion program into the first year of Middle School through a Heritage Spanish I course.

The ideal candidate will possess a North Carolina Professional Educator's license and a Bachelor's degree, along with experience in classroom instruction that supports biliteracy development and a commitment to student learning and growth. Applicants with deep cultural and linguistic experience in Spanish-speaking communities are highly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Holds a NC Professional Educator's license
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Prior teaching experience preferred
  • Biliteracy development experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality Spanish Language instruction to (6-8) students
  • Utilize the the NC Standard Course of Study: World Language Standards
  • Develop a classroom environment conducive to student learning
  • Use evidence-based teaching strategies to ensure student engagement
  • Evaluate students academic growth and performance
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding students' progress
  • Engage in planned continuous professional development
  • Collaborate with peers, administrators, parents, community and other stakeholders in the continuous improvement of classroom experiences of students
  • Ensure adherence to defined safety procedures
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned
