Opportunity Summary:

The HR Business Partner (Compliance & Risk) at Hospitality Services Group (HSG) is responsible for leading compliance, risk management, and workers' compensation programs across HSG and its affiliated entities. This role ensures adherence to federal, state, and local regulations while building scalable compliance frameworks that support operational growth across multiple markets. The HRBP works closely with leadership to proactively mitigate risk, maintain audit-ready environments, and ensure consistent compliance practices across all business units.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure company-wide compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws (including FLSA, OSHA, EEOC, and state-specific labor regulations).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, SOPs, and operational standards across HSG and affiliated entities.
  • Conduct routine compliance audits and risk assessments across multiple markets and business units.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation, including employee records, I-9 compliance, and required labor postings.
  • Monitor legislative changes and ensure timely updates to policies and practices.

Workers' Compensation & Claims Management

  • Oversee all aspects of workers' compensation programs, including claims intake, reporting, and resolution.
  • Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis by leading formal incident investigations and establishing standardized investigation protocols.
  • Serve as primary liaison between HSG, insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators.
  • Ensure timely and accurate claims reporting in accordance with state-specific requirements.
  • Track and analyze claims data to identify trends and implement risk reduction strategies.
  • Lead return-to-work and modified duty program structures in coordination with operations.
  • Partner with leadership to reduce claim frequency and severity through proactive measures.

Risk Management & Operational Compliance

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate operational and employment-related risks across all entities.
  • Standardize compliance processes across multiple states and service lines.
  • Support expansion into new markets by ensuring compliance readiness and proper setup.
  • Collaborate with leadership to implement risk mitigation strategies and corrective action plans.
  • Ensure proper classification of workers (W2 vs. 1099) and adherence to wage and hour laws.
  • Conducts Pre-Placement and ongoing safety assessments of the client worksites, supporting client selection and monitoring.

Training & Compliance Education

  • Develop and deliver compliance-focused training related to safety, labor laws, and regulatory requirements.
  • Educate operational leaders on documentation standards, compliance expectations, and risk exposure.
  • Create tools and resources to support field teams in maintaining compliance.

Reporting, Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Track key compliance and risk metrics, including audit results, claims data, and incident trends.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to leadership with actionable recommendations.
  • Continuously improve compliance frameworks, workflows, and documentation standards.
  • Implement scalable systems and processes to support company growth.

Qualifications & Skills:·

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, or workers' compensation.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws.
  • Proven experience managing workers' compensation programs and insurance relationships.
  • OSHA 30-hour Certification – required to obtain if not already completed.
  • Experience in hospitality, staffing, or multi-site operations preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and ability to influence across teams.
