Job Responsibilities

The WORC (Workforce Opportunities Regional Careers) Student Success Coach is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to promote student learning and success of students enrolled in technical programs. The position is responsible for proactively helping the college meet its retention goals through the coordination of an assigned student caseload, and engaging students in a manner that contributes to student success, persistence, completion and placement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, designs, and implements student success solutions and promotes academic success and improves retention by monitoring and coordinating results of intervention alert systems in coordination with Enrollment Services, faculty and staff, and Student Success and Retention.

  • Monitors individual student advancement on an ongoing basis and connects students with intervention support services through the use of early intervention processes and student success services.

  • Coordinates, schedules, and trains tutors in academic success processes and services including, but not limited to, the fields of technical education, mathematics, and sciences.

  • Coordinates and monitors assigned caseloads of new and current students entering technical programs. Implements strategies and monitors academic support of assigned students. Coordinates with faculty and assigns tutoring support to meet supplemental instructional needs and reports on enrollment and retention.

  • Conducts coaching sessions with students in creation of resumes, internship applications and apprenticeships. Supports college entrance testing in area high schools as needed.

  • Participates in orientations, workshops, college information sessions, and other related events as assigned. Participates in campus activities, serves on College committees, and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A Bachelors degree required. Must have strong communication skills, computer skills, able to work with students and faculty, work independently, and display caring behaviors toward students.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree preferred. Degree focus in Communications, English, Education, Student Services or a related field preferred. One (1) year work experience in advisement, tutoring and/or student services preferred. Experience with technical college level testing, technical writing, and intervention processes preferred.
