Imagine what you could do here. At Apple, new ideas have a way of becoming extraordinary products, services, and customer experiences very quickly. Bring passion and dedication to your job and there's no telling what you could accomplish. Dynamic, intelligent people and inspiring, innovative technologies are the norm here. The people who work here have reinvented entire industries with all Apple Hardware products. The same passion for innovation that goes into our products also applies to our practices strengthening our commitment to leave the world better than we found it. Join us to help deliver the next groundbreaking Apple product. Do you love working on challenges that no one has solved yet? As a member of our dynamic group, you will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to craft upcoming products that will delight and inspire millions of Apple's customers every single day.

This is an opportunity to participate in a multifaceted and outstanding engineering group at one of the world's leading companies. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on highly technical topics related to some of Apple's latest products in power technology. In particular, the role includes participation in the design, simulation, testing and analysis of current and future wireless power products. The role requires broad knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) modeling of the magnetic field as well as familiarity with common wireless power circuit architectures (inverter/rectifier/impedance matching networks). The candidate should have basic knowledge of the physics of magnetic materials, Maxwell's equations, transformer theory, circuit simulators and finite element analysis. This is a unique opportunity that will provide the candidate with real world experience in designing inductive power links with mass production intent. Candidates with a creative attitude and who are eager to undertake new challenges will find this role especially fulfilling.

Electromagnetic analysis of various geometrical structures (FEA)

Circuit topology/architecture design of wireless power electronics

Drive new techniques in simulation and measurement for improved efficiency and accuracy

Aid in risk assessments and co-existence analysis

Rigorously document designs and key parameters

Use of analytic tools (such as Excel, Mathcad, Matlab) for basic sizing, weight, system performance

Analysis and verification of designs with Finite Element Analysis (e.g. COMSOL Multiphysics), as well as circuit simulators such as Cadence.

Work with cross-functional team such as electrical engineers, mechanical designers and material scientists

Experimental validation of designs via measurement of key parameters and correlation to simulation and analytic predictions.

Statistical analysis of design perturbations

Participate in material selection through experimental/theoretical investigations, working with external vendors, and other cross-functional teams to find optimized solutions

Be a good communicator and demonstrate collaboration in a highly cross-functional environment

Understanding of physics of magnetic materials and experience with transformer theory and modeling

Background in electro-magnetics and a sound facility with Maxwell's equations

Experience with COMSOL and/or Maxwell FEA simulation tools and have strong analytical and problem solving skills

Experience with power transfer architectures (e.g. inverter, rectifier designs) and their time domain simulation

Minimum requirement of a bachelors degree in power electronics (ECE) program, or related area (e.g. engineering physics)

Familiarity with common lab equipment and measurement techniques including network analyzers, LCR meter, power supply/amplifiers, oscilloscopes, etc.

Must be highly motivated, self-starter with innovation, integrity and attention to details.

Excellent problem solving skills

Willingness to work in a fast paced innovative work environment

Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal skills

MS or PhD in power electronics (ECE) program, or related area (e.g. engineering physics) and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
