As a Wire Harness Assembly Technician, you'll be essential in assembling, testing, and ensuring the quality of wire harnesses that meet strict industry standards. You'll work closely with engineering and quality teams to contribute to product development and continuous improvement efforts.
What You'll Do
As a Wire Harness Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for:
- Building first-piece and prototype wire harnesses according to detailed drawings, work instructions, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Performing soldering, crimping, wire stripping, and routing to assemble components precisely.
- Assembling sub-components and harnesses for testing and evaluation purposes.
- Inspecting your own work to meet IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards using tools, checklists, and visual aids.
- Troubleshooting and helping identify design or documentation issues.
- Supporting updates to work instructions and documentation to improve manufacturing processes.
- Setting up workstations, verifying parts, and preparing materials for production.
- Collaborating with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Mentoring less experienced team members and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
- Contributing to ongoing process improvements to optimize productivity and quality.
What Youll Bring
The ideal candidate for this role will possess:
- 1-5 years of recent hands-on experience in wire harness assembly or related manufacturing roles.
- Strong knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
- Skilled in soldering, crimping, wire preparation, and assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency with hand tools such as crimpers, wire cutters, and drills.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality assurance.
- Good time management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work actively in a hands-on environment.
